I finished the ad for the Tachyon Friday. The design is no where near final and the line art in the ad is just an idea of what the outline will look like. The blade design is pretty much dead on for the first run. It is a CFO style blade and I modified only a few aspects to have it work in the Tachyon design.

Also DO NOT CALL now trying to order. The phone numbers are not active yet. We will start taking orders sometime next month maybe June 1st.

As you can see I have set the retail at $199.99 and hope to be able to maintain that price on the standard models.

Stay Tuned!

Looking good!

It's convinced me that it's time to start saving... again!

Well It looks good but the 199 price tag will make alot of people buy the benchmade model 42 for 60 bucks less, yes you will reach the limited balisong collectors like me who buy anything but normal people wont spend 199 bucks for a balisong !

TJ

Uh, normal?

Well if its under 200$ with the possibility of bying blades/handles for upgrade/replacement (for a reasonable price) then I´m interested.

BTW talk about teaser. Waiting for the trailer...

Did you say that this was gonna have the open sides on it? If not, you better add a kick to that blade. If so, make sure that there is NO way for the blade to come through; IE, a second tang pin like the taylors had.

You're just gonna have to trust me on the design of the knife.

IT WILL BE THE BEST PRODUCTION BUTTERFLY KNIFE EVER MADE

The drawing is just so people know it is a butterfly, nothing more or less.

See the protoypes at the Blade Show before making any assumptions on if the price is justified

Also the $199.99 price is the MSRP. MSRP on the 42 is $170.00 so let's compare apples to apples here
smile.gif

So is the Tachyon worth the $29.99 at MSRP?
We will see and you guys can be the judge.

Well, you let us know and I'll probably sell a Crawford Custom to buy two of them. I mean that.

Talking about comparing apples to apples...

For most forumites, the choice must be made between FIRST MT balisong and SECOND BM #42!

Mike, do you think I can place order for one on June 1st by JST (Japan Standard Time)? hehehe...
Well, extreme enthusiasts might be in Australia at the time not to miss the first lot of Tachyon!

ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL::
Alright, $200 by the end of the month. I think I can do it

That ad still leaves a lot to your imagination.
I'm still glad that BM has some competition, though.
maybe others will join the bandwagon (Lagwagon) and there just might be someone who will come out with something that will be less than $100.00 for the basic model, with comparible quality. Make MT amd BM both sweat a little.

Especially since I can get a custom made anyway I want for the same $200.00, you would think that a production model knife (mass quantities) could keep the cost (and profit margin) down.

But I understand that both BM and MT have a (price) reputation to uphold.

Awesome!!! How many with the Nemesis blade will be made? How much will those cost? Will the double-edged Nemesis blade be available for purchase (just blade only)?
I am really excited about this

The Nemesis style blade will be down the road. I hope to have prototypes on several blade styles after we make the first CFO style run. As far as numbers I can't say right now but I would guess at least 500 Nemesis style versions would be made.

I sold 1SKS so as far as Code-3 you will need to ask them when it comes out. As a distributor I will have to stick with the $199.99 MSRP price. Dealers are welcome to sell at whatever price they want so tell your favorite dealers to contact me at tachyon@wowinc.com

Oh and I forgot to announce my other projects
smile.gif

You guys want a kick ass butterfly for less than $100? OK How about $49.99 target price!

Stay tuned as that one is on the board for now for release in October. Obviously the Tachyon will be the premier piece but this will have great features to. Imagine a butterfly knife that fills the gap between the Jaguar - Dragon Forge and the 42!

And desinged by me and a famous custom maker

Yea!!!!

My cyber-prayers have been answered!!!

Microtech seems to be the answer to many a disheartened bali-monk's chantings!!

You guys rock!!!

I like the name "Tachyon". It rhymes with "Papillon".

Sign me up for a few.

Thanks

To my taste, the blade design is not that sexy. I love 42 better and Darrel's slight recurve much better!
smile.gif
And this one doesn't have horns ...
But that is just my taste

Mike, since the blade design will be optional and we can replace later, this won't be an issue .. I guess. Do you include space for horns if ever we have that option?

The field stopper instead of physical material stopper is cool. How that works during aerial?

Finally, a quality knife that fill the gap between Jag and 42 by a reputable manufacturer? THISISTHEPROPHECYCOMINGTRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I am going to faint

Now that's what i've been waiting to hear,a quality bali with a price tag at about $50.It gives those who what to start two handed a chance to buy 2 bali's for $100.And if they're shooting for a $50 MSRP price tag,and it follows though with that price,we may be able to get them for under $50 and that's just plain awesome.MT keep up the great work.

Mike, you're a saint. I've been yelling about that (a Jag/BM42 gap filler) for months now. And if it was designed by you I know it will kick the proverbial ass. Now people will be able to get into the world of balisongs for a small amount of money without buying a POS bali that will break on them.

Well Mike, it looks like you've got the foresight(foreskin
biggrin.gif
)to step up and tap into the heart of the balisong market!!!! My hats off to you and I hope that everything works out to your/our

satisfaction! These next few months should be very exciting for us collectors/users/forumites.......
