Sneak preview of Tachyon ad

Well, I can't wait to get two of them (Tachyons) and at least two of the $50 bali's, but the only problem is how the hell I will get them here...

Well Mike, it looks like you've got the foresight to step up and tap into the heart of the balisong market!</font>

He has vision, Tony Marfione has vision as well, which did not include this project apparently until other circumstances made it a reality.

This is very important here, Les deAsis is sitting on a goldmine, but refuses to accept the fact that we are all real.

Like I said in Chuck's other Thread that gave a taste of what even another Manufacturer might release, a Forum such as this is a Marketing Tool. BM paid UBB for the Software to run their Forum and with approximately 4 to 5 clicks of a mouse button, they could enter this BaliSong Forum and feel the excitement, they could see dollar signs, instead they ignore it or treat the enthusiasts, collectors and users as if they are mere words typed on a screen.

I hate to sound negative, but the BM42 is the standard now by which all Production BaliSongs will be Judged. I hope they are ready for it.

You people, you and I, can make this Microtech thing a success.

BaliSong USA/PC/BM made the Butterfly Knife what it is today. It is time to lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way. If they will not listen, hey, who cares then?

I have a 42, I'll probably buy another one as well in the future. But I wish they would simply bring back the 44, 45 and 48s in all their Glory. If not, oh well. We might get something better and I know that is blasphemy to some BaliSong fans, but it is true. Nowhere is it written that a Benchmade BaliSong has to be the best BaliSong there is.

So, I hope this forces BM to re-think their position. In so doing, they will benefit as well.

Oh, I can assure you that several folks at BM watch every word uttered here.

Keep in mind that new products do not emerge overnight.

Chuck,

Well, all I can say is, I sure hope so. It is a very good tool. And, I would love for them to become the BaliSong Company again. I just think those days are over. Makes me sort of sad.

A few people have E-mailed me thinking I hate BM, no, not at all. I hate some of their decisions though.

Such is life.

I suggest you don't use hotmail. Since M**** bought it over, it gets worse and worse .. no good customer service and no good mailbox size .. and very bad bulk mail policy (filtering in and very much prone to abuse). I have one and it is a pain to maintain ..and I do it only because of my old contacts has got it as permanent touchpoint ...

I use also usa.net and yahoo.com. Both are good.

Mornin guys,

Don, I would love to see Benchmade become the premier Balisong maker again. However I don't think that they will ever reclaim the status that they once had because I believe that the age of the Balisong has come and gone. With ever restrictive legislation on anything that you could possibly hurt yourself or others with, the Balisong will never be mainstream again. In the back of the Advanced Balisong Manual by Jeff Imada, there is a picture of a toy Bali. I don't think that any of the big (insert name here)-Marts would carry that today. I can see in the not to distant future when the rest of the country adopts the laws that CA has. I.e. if you have something that is sharp or shoots, you obviously intend to kill someone therefore you are a criminal. And CA will adopt the even more restrictive laws that our European friends have to live with.

Can they dominate what market is out there? Lets hope so. Of course I have to wonder, if Benchmade is listening to what has been said here since the release of the 42, why have we not heard a peep out of them?

YOU HAVE NOOOOOOOOOOO IDEA. My girlfriend and I have spent the last two weeks searching every single store for plastic bali's, only to find one wal-mart that had one set- we passed it up and now it's gone. ARGH

About 10years ago (when I was 10) I bought a "ninja kit" for halloween. In it were plastic throwing stars, sais, a short sword and a plastic balisong that really did work decently until the plastic molded in blade pin broke. That was actually my first experience with balisongs although I had no real idea what it was at the time. It wasnt until 3 years later that a friend of mine took me with him and his dad to florida that I really saw Bali's for the first time. Speaking of Cali, do they still have the mini auto-knife statute? Living on the other coast makes it hard for me to keep up. As a side note, a Jag makes a decent kitchen utility knife although it irked my girlfriend. "Jesus Christ you're using those things in the KITCHEN too" Heh Now she thinks I dont need my Wustof set...silly woman.

Nate,

I feel your pain man.

My Wife does not complain though...she loves me and loves knives too.

She just OK'ed the sale of her 9mm Glock so I could buy a certain someone's Custom BaliSong on the Forums as a matter of fact. Now, that is love and absolute, knife-nuttery at its' finest, don't you think?

She has her eyes on my SigSauer P-220 .45 Auto though...
