Hope the new owners can forgive me for posting here first....but don't have much time lately.....so busy!

Here's a sneak preview, indeed!

....just a few lil' projects I got in the works (finished up the rough sanding tonight).

Enjoy!

p.s. if you guys could email me and let me know if this looks ok (or not) then we'll take it from here. The bowie handle might look small but it's nearly a cylinder. Both fit my hand very well, and comfortably. I'll start handsanding tomorrow (didn't get it done over the weekend like I wanted...in-laws dropped in for a visit). Need to unload a few projects this week to make way for the biggun.....

Dan, I haven't wanted to bother you, but we need to talk! That subhilt handle on the AK looks great!

Regards,

Norm

I like the subhilt, but not the endcap. Can't wait to see it finished, very nice so far!

Dan, I love the sub hilt and the endcap looks like it would really help the balance. Great knives.

You got dust and fingerprints on your chair.

Nice chair though.

Can you do white metal fittings?

:)

Thanks guys - it takes visionary customers to make these kinds of projects happen. I just do the work.

DannyInJapan sent me this picture - what do you guys think?

I like it - but I would make the guard larger than the blade.

Hope this is being taken in the right light....several threads have hinted at AK Bowie modifications and interest in khukuris with guards. I'm not trying to sell anybody here.

I do appreciate the feedback, though.

D'oh:)
must have been a little lag on my computer when i was posting.... or more likely, i wasn't paying attention;) I think a subhilt on the AKB would be pretty sweet. I agree with you, Dan. maybe extend the guard past the edge. Also, i'm a steel fitting fan, myself;) I dunno, the AKB is such a simple design. It isn't the prettiest blade of the bunch, but it's honest in its homeliness. I think i'll keep mine just the way it is.
Once again, Dan, you do great work. Beautiful and functional.

Looks good, Dan. Just remember I'm all of 5'6", with proportionate hands (but large feet  ).

My palm is just under 3.5". From the base of my middle finger to my wrist is 4" (if you want to compare to your own hands, for reference).

Eager to try her out. :)

Beautiful work Dan. I like the look of the subhilt on the bowie. I have one of the older deeply fullered one's. I'm not sure I would mess with it. But you know, I'm thinking one AK Bowie is probably not enough.
A D guard might be interesting.

It's definitely not enough, tsf. Need a plain one, a fullered one, a subhilt one, a regular guard one......:D  :p

Spectre - have you posted to the hand-size thread yet? Put your numbers in and I'll check 'em.

Now see! That's what I keep telling my wife. I now have backup from an expert. Hey, Fathers Day is just around the corner. Gues I had better make sure Mother's Day is a good one.

Dan, is the handle materi9al stabilized maple? Whatever it is, it looks great. Thanks for the peek :D

Thanks for the preview Dan. As already mentioned, the subhilt is pretty sweet. Seeing that on the Bowie looks as if it was always there.

Keep us posted as the project progresses!
