Nothing here in your Nation's Capitol but cold.

They tell us 2" or so tomorrow ... but who really knows?

It does'nt snow in the Deep South. Ain't talking about Tennessee or North Georgia, or even Central Mississippi. Talkin' lands end here! Gulf Shores/Orange Beach, Alabama. Nothing but some cold rain!

Central Ohio here and we have just about enough snow for some tracking and for looks. This was the view of snack time in the hunting woods this morning...

You TN folks have more snow on the ground at the moment than we do but I hear we're supposed to be in for more tonight.

Following the school bus fiasco in the blizzard of '03, we can see a couple of snowflakes and the schools shut down. The politicos and admins are still skittish after that one.
What happened in '03 Guyon??? .. :)

We got about 6 inches here in NE Alabama, it sure is pretty.... ;)

36" of snow in 3 days. They called for a light dusting. Folks in the Mountains were without power for 3 weeks. In the parts further towards NC, a month. Major powerlines were knocked out and most were just unprepared. Now, the school systems call it on account of snow whenever they call for it. They actually build in a longer school year to account for the outtages.

I recall snow in Mobile one year. You'd have thought the apocalypse had come.
Good luck finding a loaf of bread, and these were people used to hurricanes.
And the Bayway. Oh Lord, the Bayway... :D

I went to work without even a heavy jacket. By 3 when I finally took note of the blizzard and started home, there were 4 to 5 inches on the ground. A 15-20 minute trip took 2 hours because of all the snow and wrecks. I did not have a four-wheel-drive truck at the time (I do now). I skidded into a ditch to avoid some idiot who slammed on her brakes. I had to dig the ice out from behind my tires to get out, and I lost a thumbnail in the process. It was ugly. Schools here kept delaying on sending kids home, and by the time they finally did, it was too late. Lots of kids got stranded on stuck buses. Lots of parents didn't know where their kids were. This was, of course, a little before every 9-year-old had his/her own cell phone.

We got out and finally erected a snowman this evening. The boy had been after me all day to get one built. The process started with some wood splitting...

Then, I got a fire started and we went to work.
Yesterday's snow was perfect. Fluffy and wet and sticky.
Today's was more icy and didn't stick together worth a flip.
So... Herman turned out a little small. And a little pear shaped. :D Still, we had fun.

And we had a good fire for warming fingers.

the funny thing is my neighbors kid was in front of my house were my dog always takes a piss and I seen him eating the snow, I felt bad but he was loving it....

That's a good lookin' snowman, you should outfit him a little better, he needs some gear, man, gear. :D

I tell my boy all the time... "Son, avoid the brown acid and the yellow snow." :D

FYI for folks born in the 90's, that's a Woodstock reference. :p

Oh, he has a Kel-Tec P32 under his scarf. I know. No stopping power. But who the hell expects a snowman to be packing in the first place?

Thanks for that info guys, I bet that was a royal mess. ;)
