What happened in '03 Guyon???Following the school bus fiasco in the blizzard of '03, we can see a couple of snowflakes and the schools shut down. The politicos and admins are still skittish after that one.
What happened in '03 Guyon???..
We got about 6 inches here in NE Alabama, it sure is pretty....![]()
It does'nt snow in the Deep South. Ain't talking about Tennessee or North Georgia, or even Central Mississippi. Talkin' lands end here! Gulf Shores/Orange Beach, Alabama. Nothing but some cold rain!
36" of snow in 3 days. They called for a light dusting. Folks in the Mountains were without power for 3 weeks. In the parts further towards NC, a month. Major powerlines were knocked out and most were just unprepared. Now, the school systems call it on account of snow whenever they call for it. They actually build in a longer school year to account for the outtages.

That's a good lookin' snowman, you should outfit him a little better, he needs some gear, man, gear.

I tell my boy all the time... "Son, avoid the brown acid and the yellow snow."
FYI for folks born in the 90's, that's a Woodstock reference.![]()

Thanks for that info guys, I bet that was a royal mess.I went to work without even a heavy jacket. By 3 when I finally took note of the blizzard and started home, there were 4 to 5 inches on the ground. A 15-20 minute trip took 2 hours because of all the snow and wrecks. I did not have a four-wheel-drive truck at the time (I do now). I skidded into a ditch to avoid some idiot who slammed on her brakes. I had to dig the ice out from behind my tires to get out, and I lost a thumbnail in the process. It was ugly. Schools here kept delaying on sending kids home, and by the time they finally did, it was too late. Lots of kids got stranded on stuck buses. Lots of parents didn't know where their kids were. This was, of course, a little before every 9-year-old had his/her own cell phone.
Thats a better snowman then I can make, but then again I hate snow, my kids have been bugging to get me outside to do the same....
I just tell them to piss of and go clean there rooms, (not really)
the funny thing is my neighbors kid was in front of my house were my dog always takes a piss and I seen him eating the snow, I felt bad but he was loving it....
