Well it's March and we got snow! I figured that we probably won't have any more so what better time to hike back and cut some of the trees I spotted hiking a few nights ago out of the way.

Also thought I'd give the old 17" 23oz Ganga Ram Villager a whirl. As you can see I recontoured the handle a bit.

Here is the beauty of the khuk. I cut on the opposite side and under from where I was standing.

Then my technique is if I can, which I could, I do the same thing on the other side and then come down from the top. Sort of an hour glass chopping method.

Next was another treetop! Somehow on up my path a Tulip Poplar had the crown snap off. I sharpened this khuk before I took it out and it was wickedly sharp:thumbup:

I left the one large diagonal for later because it was so big and also I could get under it.

Next uphill to the ridge. I was really wishing that I had brought BOTH of my trekking poles. It was really slow going cause it was so steep and slippery w/o my extra pole for stabiltiy

great pics! Looks a bit... chilly! That khuk worked like a chainsaw on the logs, nice chopper.

Awesome pics HD...great looking dogs. Looks like you got some nice chopping in, always a fun way to build up a sweat. Gene

man, that's a great set of pics.

The khuk is super nice, but I like the Koster just as much...;)

Thanks for the pics, it looks like you and your sidekicks had a good time in the hills. Your Ganga Ram really made some beautiful cuts in the logs. My GRS is about the same size and is just plain fun to use.

They must wait till spring.

Yeah they usually come in spring and fall. Summer their little tongues hang out and they pant.

By the way the pic of the second border collie is my dog Bear! But I usually call him Bearman or Bearhenry instead of just Bear.

how much rum does it take to make a good cup of tea? Nice photos HD. where I live this is the first snow we have had in aboout 6 or 8 years. Pat

Great Pics 'Ol Bud, I'm looking at about 3" of snow at this time also. Are you in WVa.? If so Howdy neighbor, I'm in Pike Co. Ky. Kimper area. about 30min from Williamson. Still waiting on my Khuk to arrive:(

I was in Elkins, WV last May and had snow and freezing rain falling. You still got plenty of time for that miserable, white stuff to fall :p.

Thanks for the pics,

Chris

Scary stuff HD, you look like my father n law, taking a stroll with his Australian Sheppard.
