Snows Begun

I wonder if they have snow snakes in the UK?:(
That would be sad news for Two Dogs, with his luck one will get him!!!!:(

Svashtar, I know how much you are suffering, I lived three years in Monterey studing at MIIS and working at the Aquarium. I still remember one day when the thermometer showed 54:eek:
On the other hand, I am actually living in NY...I had no idea that you could reach -35:eek: I must go back there!

Yeah thanks for sending it this way...:p
Here in the mountains (30mi from Albany) it was -6/-7 degrees during the day,
& if that wasn't enough we had the 30-45mph winds (all schools closed cause of -45/-50 windchill).

Hehe, fun topic. Glad to hear you're making the most of it Brendan, there's nothing like playing in the snow! At home in PA we pull sleds behind our ATV, when we upgraded to a 500cc Polaris we started pulling 4 guys at once going 20+ MPH! It keeps things exciting that's for sure.

Here in GA we had ice storms the last two nights, I'll have to post pics later. The trees got coated with 1/8" or more of ice on all of their branches, it made the saplings look really neat in the sunlight. The pines didn't fare so well, they had a lot more surface area for the ice to stick to with their needles. It brought down lots of branches, some of them pretty big. One was almost the entire top of the tree! After seeing that I stopped walking under the branches, the ice wasn't all melted yet. Thankfully nothing fell on my car, although something knocked out my power and internet connection for about half the day. It sort of feels like home! :)

Sounds like an opportunity for more khuk field testing, eh Roadrunner? :D

WarrenR, alas, no khuks in the barracks for me. :grumpy: I might hurt somebody with it. Us intelligence types are so rowdy you know.

Snow here in west central Nevada isn't bad, but we do have these hundred mile an hour winds several times a year.

60 miles per hour isn't remarkable, but they send the school busses home early sometimes. 70 mph is getting to blow the car around a bit, 80 mph they want to close the roads ( sissys ) 90 is downright gusty, and if it's a steady 90 it's gusting up round a hundred. A hundred miles an hour and you stay home.

A guy you may have heard of named Sam'l Clemens ( used the pen name Mark Twain ) wrote about our Washoe Zephyrs. He didn't stretch things that much, leastways round these parts.

:D :D :D
