Hey,

I am a big fan of GV snowshoes, and I currently use a Mountain Trail pair on a regular basis. They are lightweight, well-built, and have excellent boot retention. Can't go wrong.

Here's a thread about one of my recent outings, including some pics of the GVs in use: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=601554

Here's a picture:

The traditional ones are superior in deep snow, they just float far better as far as I'm concerned. I like the newer ones of semi-compacted trails, heavy bush or when there are a lot of hills (the built in cleats come in handy).

Mine are MSR Denali...it takes a lot to hold me up so I like the tails. I've had good luck with atlas 10 series (1035's) also.
