So a knife isn’t yours till it draws blood, huh?…..

Nope, just if it cuts paper while sitting on the couch. :) Occasionally, if I am testing the edge on my finger nail it will go past or slide and hit the end of my finger, usually just a cut, but no blood. just means I am glad my sharpening skills are not great yet or it came that way.

Definitely NO ! I haven't enough blood for all those knives I call mine...
I get the occasional dry cut (only skin), like "when did this happen ?". Careless handling of sharp knives or knives in sharpening can do that.
The belt grinder though... may claim some skin, or heated fingertips once in a while.

I hear they had quite a Party.... :^)

That's the rumor!

I recently put in an order for a morale patch from a well known maker of such things, and kick myself for resisting the urge to throw this into my cart.

Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band may apply...
But then... I was younger.

I don't have to bleed to make them mine . Done more than my share already !

Just handling , carrying , and using . Disassembly , cleaning , maintenance .

Modifications , minor to major , done by my hand .

Just the opposite for son in law. Gave him a set of Shun kitchen knives. He cut himself taking one out of the box. Now he will not use them.
Those things are hella sharp. I respect sharp and pointy things but Shun kitchen knives deserve a bit more respect. If you're the kind of person who likes to watch movies on your laptop while you chop vegetables, you might want to reconsider how you use a knife unless you want to look like you were a great disappointment to the Yakuza...

A knife is mine after I paid for it and it's in my possession; just like anything else I buy.

I've cut myself too many times to count. sold a bunch of the guilty for whatever reason.

I wish I'd have kept 90% of ''my'' knives.

I've drawn blood using a nail hammer. And pliers. Good thing I didn't sharpen them.

Know what's dangerous? Those Japanese type pruning saws with the shark teeth. They do make a nice incision until you hit bone.
