Ahoy there folks, Summer is here and i would like to get the fine people from here to join me on another hike. This hike would be to the bridge to nowhere. The planed hike would be on Aug 7. Details would follow for a meeting spot. But consider the hike an all day thing. With lots of river crossing and lots of fun fun and laughs. I would like to see all the old faces and a few new faces as well. We are always having lots of fun on the get toghers. I expect nothing less this time.

We would follow the river at the bottome of the valley.

Amy and I will be there...trying our best to keep up with you like last time.

I'm in too.

Funny enough, today I did a portion of the hike. I had planned on going with my kids and niece and nephew so we could do some swimming in the river.

Two things, although we only saw one river crossing (there are at least 5 crossings on the hike), you couldn't cross it without getting your feet/legs wet. That's different than how it was the last time I did the hike. The river is running higher. So, either wear some water shoes or be prepared to walk in wet hiking shoes.

Also, it sure gets hot up there. Didn't seem to have as much shade as I remembered either, so be ready to be hot.

Mike its one of the reason i want to do that hike i love river crossing its so much fun and we would do lots of them as we are going to travel on the bottom instead of the top... Lots of fun me say.

I'm not sure yet Sasha. I will have just gotten home from my Mt. Whitney trip that week and then I'm out of town again a week later. Not sure I will be able to do it because of work, but I will try.

This hike is not far away from me at all. I would not count on much shade, and I would count on it being HOT. So plan accordingly guys.

Just checked weather.com and average high temp at Azusa in August is 89, with a recorded high of 109. My pits are getting damp just thinking about 109 degrees. Going to add a 32 oz bottle of Gatorade to the gear this time around.

Well guys thats why we are going to walk at the bottom and cross the river many time back and forth. So wet we shall get. Besides think cool thoughts and you would be fine.
Chris i sure hope you can make it. It should be a great hike.Guys dont forget the cameras.

This was posted yesterday on another forum.

The crossings are fine - not necessarily deep, but fast water. The first crossing is probably the deepest, but isn't much of a problem for a person of average height. Some friends were up there just yesterday and said the water was perfect, temp-wise.

Sounds refreshing.

Dont forget the GOLD.............. If enough of us get togher we could do our own gold robbery with lots of people prospecting out there...... Well it just a thought

Have fun! I enjoyed that backpack we did in Angeles Forest----despite the heat.

This Hike to the bridge to nowhere was awesome! Be sure to buy an adventure pass, you can get them anywhere once you exit the freeway on azusa ave, such as the liquor stores or gas stations.

Great, Sasha spends most of his time in liquor stores so he can pick some up for all of us. ;)

Any others interested in coming along? The more the merrier!

I wish I could go but I live too far! While you guys are together, you need to start talking about bushbash 4 in the Fall. I hope to see some new faces there as well as the regulars.. Have a great time all.

i am in if there is swimming :D :D :D

i might go with my wife, niece and nephew...

it looks like a nice hike...

anybody want to carpool (just in case i go by myself)...?

I wouldn't mind going.
I haven't been on a hike in quite some time, and I've never been to the Bridge To Nowhere, although I have been to the Tunnel To Nowhere not far away a long time ago.
No better reason to get some new footwear.
BTW, can anyone tell me about the terrain? I can handle a hike, but clambering over boulders takes it's toll on me as I'm old, "portley", and the hinges don't work like they used to.

This sounds like a great trip. I am trying to see if my schedule is open. I won't know till next week. Anyone that is going up be sure not to leave anything tempting in your cars, there are alot people who live in the canyon around this area.

bump...

it looks like not many people are going to this hike...

just bumping up the thread to see who else is interested!!!
