So do you guys really put your nice fiddlebacks to hard use?

Sitting here looking at the Terrasaur i picked up the other week, I'm almost afraid to use it it's so nice...

Interested in hearing how others are using their fiddlebacks...

I'm in the same situation but have put some of mine to work. Eventually most will be put to work once the honeymoon is over.
With my other blades I tend to move them on if they haven't been used in 6 months, there will be an exception with some Fiddlebacks [emoji3]

Yeah. I've got a few other knives I am afraid to use...Not really a problem for me as some of them are just "nice to have" luxury items i picked up to entertain myself. Eventually some of them will get sold and am already thinking about that.

I choose edged tools that I would use.

Fiddlebacks are obviously high end knifes, but I take more joy out of using my knives than just admiring them. Just like my GB axe, it appealed to me aesthetically, but I fell in love with it after limbing a downed tree in my back yard.

Use them or lose them. Nothing wrong with collecting, but I buy knives with every intention of using them. I don't abuse my knives, but I'm not afraid to get them dirty and put them to work.

I run mine through the ringer. If I carry I use it. My favorite bushfinger processes all of my deer from start to finish and has been used as a makeshift machete while tracking deer through unexpected briar patches. I have a few I collect but if it goes on my belt it will be used. FYI bushfingers are terrible machetes.

I love beautiful knives, and knives are at their most beautiful when they're being used.

I use them all.

Everyone can do with their knives what they please. For me, if I don't use them I sell them. There's only been one that I didn't use because it was too pretty, a quartersawn curly oak Woodsman, which I had to sell. There have been a couple others that I've sold because they just didn't get the use they deserved.

I use all my Fiddlebacks; not hard, but thoughtfully, carefully and with much joy.
I have moved on most of my knife collection (mostly folders) because I get frustrated just looking at knives and not using them.
Get out there and use your knives; they become so much more with time in your hand.

I use mine as well. As most have said "I use them but don't abuse them". I don't consider controlled hard use abusing them. Admittedly my bone Hiking Buddy has been a safe queen but that is about to change. I'm hoping to dress a nice whitetail this fall with it. All of my Fiddlebacks spend time in the kitchen before heading out for their intended uses.

My Hunter stopping to pose for a pic while prepping some kindling:

Ok maybe I do abuse them on occasion. :D

This is a rough life for a cpm154 Runt:

I guess I am the odd man out. Most of mine are used to open the box that contains my new Fiddleback purchase. Get a knife, open next knife. Then use the new one to open the next one. Not much of a woodsman or hunter, but they do get a lot of carry time and looking at.

I've tried to make fire sticks and a few other "woodcraft" type stuff and do not seem to be too good at it. I cannot seem to the curls that you guys are getting. Mine just turn into slivers. Maybe it is the type of wood that I am using. I have only tried oak and some other kind of wood from a tree in our backyard. I do not know what it was. :(
