Even if the rumours of REKAT are untrue, it is really not good publicity for the company. I would encourage REKAT to release a company response one way or the other.
Quite frankly, only they know what are the problems, if any.
Let's break it down:
STRENGTHS:
1. They have excellent products that can compete with other specialty knife companies.
2. Their after sales service is highly reputed.
So what's the problem?
- Need better management?
- They're overinvested in the company?
- Not enough promotions? Yeah. They seem pretty low-profile.
- Lack of distribution channels? Definitely!!
- Do they have a big enough target market? Are they reaching their target market?
Hopefully, everything will sort themselves out. My first piece of advice would be to market themselves a bit better especially in the area of distribution. Why is it that a major knife and cutlery stores don't carry REKAT?
For example, I live in Canada and "House of Knives" is a major retailer of cutlery across the country. They have been in business for over 10 years and carry everything from Spyderco, CRKT, Cold Steel, Emerson, etc. But no REKAT!
