Hi all, were there any knives that you were so tempted to buy but for some great reason you forgot about it, or just found a better knife to buy? Or actually glad you didn't hit it, such as the 'hit' button to buy the knife? In my case it was the Zero Tolerance http://www.lapolicegear.com/zetofutatafo.html I'm so glad i did not spend the $200 for this knife because after stumbling upon this wonderful forum I've found many better knives for the fraction of the ZT, such as the BK-2! And so, were there any knives that you were so tempted to buy but later on you were glad you did not buy it?

I was thinking about getting a ZT 301/302 but decided not to because Ive

already got a couple of Striders. If it wasnt for the fact that ZTs weigh about

2 1/2 oz. more than my Striders(SMF) and both knives are designed to be

Very H.D. knives.

I would not say there are "many better knives" cheaper than a ZT... atleast not as tough for the money...

As per your title... there are many occasions when I have said that in the morning after a long night... and many occasions when I wish I could have said that the morning after...

Yes, for me the Kershaw Outcast was tempting, until some people on these forums mentioned how uncomfortable the handle was.

Another would be the Cold Steel Spike, which I asked about here, and people's opinions effectively talked me out of getting one.

Different knives for different tasks.

If you didnt "hit" for the ZT how do you know it wasn't worth it? Or whats "better"?

I was MORE impressed with the ZT0301 than I expected to be. It is a beast so I had LL make a pouch sheath for it. Its a nice setup.

the zt looks like a stout guy but i do'nt need to buy one to know it's not a good value when compared to ferhman thru hiker.check performance ferhman test result in testing divison.

I have a short list of knives I'm glad I didn't buy:

Spyderco Tenacious.
It's ugly but everyone says it "the best value for the money"
After seeing this review http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9T-NwSBqPE
I'm glad I bought a Xikar Explorer instead.

Ka-bar Dozier.
Another "best value for money" knife but read some stuff about it having no so good fit and finish. Plus it has no liners. Bought a CRKT Drifter instead.

Spyderco Byrd Raven/Crow.
Read some bad stuff about Spyderco Service and fit and finish and since this is their budget line, I don't trust the knife will be satisfactory.
I bought a Victorinox Cadet instead.

That is comparing apples to oranges...

fixed blade vs. folder????? really...?

You should really look at a guys link before making comments...

He linked to a Model 0121, aka Zero Tolerance Full Tang Tactical Knife, a fixed blade.

ah touche, I thought I read 301 somewhere in the OP but it was not. My mistake.

It's always good to seek advice but what is comfortable to one person might feel like crap to someone with different size hands, there is only one way to find out how a given product will work for you. I have purchased items that many advised against and found that it was perfect for my needs. The same has happened in reverse but now I know for sure.

My only thing is, I'm glad i didn't get all excited on just one knife. I'm fortunate to come upon this site to see other knives, I would be hitting myself on the head if i bought that ZT for some $200, i could have bought like four BK-2, after thinking about it, the ZT looks not too appealing for me.

That ZT0121 fixed blade normally goes for less than 200. About 187-188$ according to MAP pricing is what I normally see, some dealers go lower (but cannot advertise that price on their site).

I wanted an Emerson CQC-15, found a good price and almost purchased it but decided to wait and hold it first. I found that the CQC-13 and 11 felt much better but didn't like their blade profiles as much. SO I walked away empty handed and glad that I did.

There are not many folders that can take abuse like this and still remain tight and lockup solid as in almost none.

Two for me. There was a time when I REALLY wanted a cold steel Gunsite and a CRKT C/K Dragon. Pretty glad I stayed away from both of those...

Never been glad I didn't buy a knife...... how are you supposed to own and try them all if you don't buy one for some reason or another. :)

To the OP, do your self a favor and don't discount a knife you have never even handled. Knives are all different and might end up loving one you thought you would hate and hating ones you thought you would love. Your perspective can change drastically once the steel hits your hands and you hit the field. You may feel compelled to over value the $50 knife just b/c you own it.... Personally, I have owned a ZT121, but, not the Becker.... so, I can't compare them.
