SO glad I didn't hit it.

Never been glad I didn't buy a knife...... how are you supposed to own and try them all if you don't buy one for some reason or another. :)

To the OP, do your self a favor and don't discount a knife you have never even handled. Knives are all different and might end up loving one you thought you would hate and hating ones you thought you would love. Your perspective can change drastically once the steel hits your hands and you hit the field. You may feel compelled to over value the $50 knife just b/c you own it.... Personally, I have owned a ZT121, but, not the Becker.... so, I can't compare them.

I have regretted not buying knives a bunch of times.

I have regretted buying certain knives also over the years, mostly cheaper ones that didn't last or had other problems.

I'm glad I didn't pick up the SOG Aegis. It seemed nice, but then I held one and it all went down the drain.

Two knives, the Tenacious and the Military.
I nearly bought the Tenacious when it was new to the scene "Best bang for buck value" and "Amazing!" nearly swayed me, until I handled a Spyderco. The round hole sucks IMO, it doesn't make opening any easier than a flipper or thumbstud, and it makes the knives too fat to comfortably in the pocket.
The Military seemed like the answer for my quest, but before I ordered I realized that it was overpriced. S30V, G10, and a liner lock can be found much cheaper elsewhere, I nearly bought into the hype, and I'm glad I didn't. It saved me money and I'm getting by just fine without one, I nearly bought into the Spyderco fad for awhile but I'm glad I didn't, it's saved me money and I've yet to ever think "I wish I had a [insert favorite Spyderco model here] right now."
YMMV but that's all IMHO.

I hate to burst your bubble but you cant really compare a military's liner lock or g10 to very many other knives. in fact, the liner lock in the military curb stomps most liner locks in terms of design and execution. also, the g10 used in the military is incredibly rigid, much more so than the older version and most other companies g10, which has to do with the additional glass in the recipe. As for the s30v, well I cant say that spyderco does a better job than other brands, but it's as good as anyone else.

if you want say it's an overpriced knife, well I guess thats your opinion. but to suggest other, cheaper knives are the "same" because they use the "same" materials is imo not realistic.

Let me get this straight... you handled one knife and from that decided that Spyderco = overpriced and unwieldy. First impressions are pretty worthless in my experience. I think you should get in on a passaround sometime; you might just change your mind about sidestepping that particular landmine.

BTW, I think something ceases to be a fad somewhere before the 29-year mark.

Spydercos are not for me. That's why I said YMMV and IMHO. You can love Spyderco all you want, I won't. I praise them for their accomplishments, I love the SM, their knives just don't suit my tastes.
I didn't like the hole, I didn't like the thumb ramp, I don't like the prices. If I had deeper pockets to try a few models I would, but at this point I have no desire to own one. I know these forums have many Spyderco fans, I'm a fan of what they've done, just not their knives.
