So guys, how do you stop yourself from buying everything that looks cool?

I agree with JNieporte.

I tend to ask myself whether the item in question has any feature that I would change. If the answer is no, which it virtually never is, I would go ahead & buy it. Otherwise, it's not that difficult to say 'pass.'

Since I have no credit cards, I stop when I run out of money...;)

Seriously though, I never buy just for cool, but design and quality fit and finish are important...right now, though, I don't buy at all...too many other expenses.

Ray :)

Procrastinate! :)

Don't even try to stop yourself -- that's too hard. Tell yourself okay you'll buy it, but not right away, in a while ... if you still want it.... :)

This is what I do. Nine out of ten times someone else will buy it or I'll realize I don't like it THAT much. But the tenth time ....... :D

Every time I think I'm too broke to buy another knife I get a letter in the mail that says 'You are pre-approved' and the problem is solved!!!

Yes, I could get the Sebenza have it be the end all be all, but I still want something Spydie and something custom...then the list cycles again

Example: I want the Jim Hammond Cruiser, but couldn't afford it. I got the CRKT version instead
Why? It looks cool and it handles great. I love the look and the feel of the Simonich grips (not avail on the custom). Problem is, I never use it...

Maybe I should just sell everything and start fresh with what I REALLY want to USE

I like the cat food idea. I just hate to skin them. Put their head in a boot jack and jerk the tail. Just kidding. If it's a good deal and you buy right you can play with it then sell it for more money. When I get one it drives my my wife mad because I can't put it down have to play with it for days to get the feel. Must be a tactile thing.

How do you guys do it?
I see something I like and automatically "have to have it"

How do you control yourselves?

Who said anything about controlling myself?

Just ordered a BM930 earlier this week and I'm not happy about having to wait until Monday for it to get here.

I'm almost out of money and have some high priority knives coming this fall (the new Beckers). I'm more than willing to wait for those.

Let the wife see your receipts!

This could work or it could have the reverse effect. In my case, my wife would leave me then I would have no way of stopping. I would go bankrupt and have to sell them all.

Only money stops me. I am truly addicted.

to be honest, i sometimes feel pretty guilty for spending so much money on knives i dont need and then i turn on the tv and see images of iraqi kids looking through rubble for food, or kids in africa digging for diamonds with their bare hands in order to get a meal :(
