when these sell for so cheap my spydie sense says sweatshop... anyone have any info?
 
Cheap junk. Unless it is truly a name brand that I respect. And not a counterfeit. Wouldn't take it if it was given to me.
 
i think theapostlep has some good points in his vid... though i dont feel that Kizer falls in the cheap knockoff catagory.

but what i really wonder is if there is anything we can do about it because these guys really wreak of sweatshop/child labor.
 
I want a Spyder-ized version. The compression lock is a great design, but it's nowhere near as lefty-friendly as an Axis or ball-bearing lock.
 
Knock-offs, clones, stolen designs... They give me cancer and offend all 5 of my senses.

I hate counterfeits and clones, but I gotta say that video by apostlep is an inaccurate extension of bad logic and misguided economic theory. I had to turn it off 12 minutes in. I hope he stretched well before all those leaps and bounds. It's curious when such a short passage of time can disprove a flawed opinion.

I guess that happens when you attempt to demonize 1.4 billion individuals and lump them under a title like "the Chinese". You know, you can do it with any ethnic or national group; try it with Jews, blacks and women.

everyone is entitled to their opinion and i know where you're coming from. and i also feel that he is not 100% accurate. i do believe that his point on labor issues in China is real and a concern for me. i know things change over time but when i visited china 10 years ago two images stick with me clearer than anything. a group of kids no taller than my thighs chain smoking and blowing smoke rings in a rural pool hall. and the grim feeling i got seeing the same kids fixing shoes and shining them in street markets. sweat shops and child labor may not be everywhere in china but they are real and they exist. a simple google search will yield many reputable sources documenting recent child labor issues with large companies that many people in the states purchase from.
