So, How many 112 Ranger fans do we have out there?

C'mon guys', sound off. Mine is marked as as 112V with the 425 modified steel blade. I have a "One Armed Bandit" thumbstud attached, and I carry it on my belt in the original (but cut down) leather sheath.

Definitely count me as a fan.

Mine has nickel silver bolsters, and the wood is the old Maccassar Ebony. That knife has a great feel, and sometimes I think the weight gives it a little cutting advantage.

Absolutely! I get every bit of use out of a 112 that I do out of the larger 110 and I'm actually able to tote it in my back pocket with ease when I don't feel like wearing a belt sheath. I think this is the most under-rated folder going. A great knife. But man I sure would like a PCKS version. Pete?

Pete, MNBlade,

That's what I want to hear!. Come on guys, there HAS to be more Ranger fans out there. Take a minute and put out a post.

Not to change the subject, but some of us here think the Ranger would have a cleaner look if it didn't have a nail notch on the blade. What do you Ranger fans think?

Pete,

Since I use the add-on thumbstud anyway, the nail-notch is, for me , redundant. The blade probably would look a little "slicker" without it.

You can count me in on this one for certain. My first locking blade knife was a shiny new Ranger that I carried with me daily from the time I was a Freshman in High School until it was lost/stolen from my car after a major car accident back in 1978. As I recall, that Ranger had no nail groove and current Rangers should be the same - the nail groove is redundant and UGLY.

I have two.One is about 12 years old with brass bolsters, and the other is 3 years old with nickel bolsters. No matter what other new wonder knife I buy, these are still the knives I carry and use more than any other. They are still the BEST!

Stomper,

Welcome aboard the Ranger Express!

For some strange reason, I have never owned a Ranger. Guess I've always been focused on the 110, dunno!
I guess I'll have to remedy that.;)

Count me in as a 112 fan. I have one that was modified by a Buck employee. The bolsters are brass with the front one tapered down. The blade is a drop point with a one armed bandit on it. The scales are beautifully matched stag. It's one of my favorite knives.

count me in too! My first buckknife was a 112 made in about 1974 .I just bought a 112fg. I like the knife, but never thought yeh or nay on the nail nick.
guy:)

I've got a couple of the old ones and you're right about the nail-notch.
AND Pete, I'm still waiting to hear as to whether or not tne BUCK CUSTOMS will ever be available without that nasty scar on the blade? I asked that question during Beta testing time for the shop and never got a reply, as I recall.
Now, How about this: A Ranger with BG-42 and Stag scales withoutpins? Cool, huh?
Dan

Love my 112! The balance on it is just right. Keep the nail nock, lose the rivets, add nickle-silver bolsters, and add a lanyard hole and it would be just about perfect!

The Ranger was my first real knife. My father gave it to me when I was about 10 years old. That knife survived boy scouts and the rest of my youth. I still have it. If it were added to PCKS' lineup I'd definitely get another.

I sure like the direction this is going in! I don't care for the nail notch on the 112 either. I have one in black micarta and a couple with the rare, segua wood inlays from about the same time frame.
