So, how many knives...

I'm relatively new here and have not looked at the no doubt numerous "how many knives do you own" threads but when you answer are you really counting ALL of the knives you own or just the "nice" ones? How about that sweet Shun or Miyabi chefs knife, or the Sears utility knife in the garage (you have at least 2 of them, right?) , or that tiny Swiss Army knife you got as a kid, or your diving knife etc. What about that nice Exacto set you have... And multi tools. Looking at it that way I must be close to 50 and I don't view myself as a knife nut, especially around here.
 
I don't know the exact total, more more than 150. Mostly folding, but a half dozen or so fixed blades.
 
I probably own in the neighborhood of 150 knives. (Folding and Fixed Blades)
 
No, normally I don't count kitchen knives, utility knives, razor blades for paint scrapers, or the blades on multi-tools when I answer questions about how many knives I own. I usually think in the context of folding pocket knives.

If the question is about kitchen knives in particular, which I am into, then I don't tend to count the myriad assorted cheap knives that rattle around in the kitchen drawer that were accumulated over the years before I got interested in better cutlery.
 
Well over 100 total. Possibly 150. No idea as I never count my kitchen knives or box cutters and have about 90 other good folding and fixed blade knives.

I have 3 fairly expensive Grohmann kitchen knives and the rest are the usual entry level Henckels, etc. A drawer full in any case.
 
Kitchen knives were my life for 30 years so I have to include them. Certainly dozens, and who knows how many I’ve lost or broken. Ironically, since retiring I’ve decided to replace all my primary blades and include a few nice folders. I’m looking at assembling a dozen new working knives, customs and high end production pieces, fixed and folders, in total. Then I’ll sell off the rest.
 
No idea never counted whether including kitchen knives and utility knives or not ... I just use them ... never crosses my mind to count them.
 
I leave out numerous knives-kitchen, utility and even some antique. Adding in all knives the number would balloon. I try to keep it so I can come up with the number using fingers and toes. I count only my modern collection. I have other knives everywhere, some I have long forgotten

So I only count my "collection" which would not include my kitchen knives, mine are all cheap shameful knives atm, and doesn't count some random tools, ie retractable utility knife, that I have in a tool box.
 
14 folders at the moment, not counting my SAKs or multitool. I don’t cook beyond an out of box level, but my lady does, and she has a beautiful set of Shun Prestige knives wrapped under the tree right now.
 
I don't include my kitchen knives when I count my knives, and none of them are what I consider cheap. I also don't include the three machetes I own, any of the xacto/utility/razor-type knives I own, or any of my swords (40+). I do count my kukris though. I'm not sure why I consider my kukris knives but not my machetes, but it makes sense to my subconscious for some reason.......

Well, I certainly don't count table knives (silverware type stuff) or regular kitchen type knives since they are just household items to me. ;) MY knives are at the level of 425 (my count) or 525 (wifes count). :eek: Pick one. :D
 
I don't usually include my kitchen knives, xacto/utility/razor-type knives, or multi-tools when I think about this issue. I figure that I have around 130-140 folders and fixed blades. If I were to include them, maybe 20-25 additional knives?
