I was curious about how you got into making knives. It is an interesting hobby, for some, good business for others. How'd you get into it? Moose

Well, I had a govt job, and during the free time I was foruming a lot over in the HI section. Lots of handy guys over there, and soon I was participating along with projects they did. I had a knack for sheaths, and started making sheaths to sell, but there wasn't much money in it. Eventually, I switched to knives, and it was really downhill from there. On May1, 2009, I got laid off, and so began my full time career.

Interesting story, lol. Gubment worka'. Never would have figured it, you seem like such a nice guy. LOL. Thanks, I was just wondering. Moose

Mine isn't much different. Been an active member on BF for years. Started making kydex sheaths for myself, then figured out I made a pretty good sheath. Started making them to sell to BF members. That's how I met Andy. Started trying a little hobby knifemaking with his help. About the time I got to where I could make a decent knife, my real job wasn't paying me enough to live so I quit and went full-time as Andy's apprentice. That's about it.

Probably hard to make much on leather sheaths but I have seen several pictures of Andy's over the years and they were quite nice. I also remember cutting some Old Hickory knives down and making my first Nessie with the help of a Rammy forumite. Didn't you participate in that a few years back?
