so i already got some oxidation on my naked infi

how do i take care of it

Ahhh! What did you do with the blade already? Chop veggies? Do you live near the coast? Did you clean it after use? Keep the thinnest layer of mineral oil on your satin cutlery. Its cheap, edible, and you NEVER have to worry about oxidation. I even oil up my nicer kitchen knives after dinner prep.

Yeah, mineral oil is key at times. I like to scrub off food prep knives well before that though, especially meat prep.

If your blade is covered with drywall dust, biscuit gravy and squirrel blood, you will never notice the oxidation.

I don't know if it's a good idea or not, but i do occasional food prep with mine, as well as chores (including path clearing) around the house. I wash it after a day out, and spray with, yes, canola oil in the can. Wipe her, and put her pants back on.

In AZ, where not much rusts anyway, but doing just fine.

Although new to infi, I like Gibbs brand spray oil, or corrosion block, boeshield but leaves a wax coating. For rust removal Ultra one safest rust remover. But I wouldn't use those if working with food. I do like Flitz also. Just my input on some thing's I use.

Certain foods/spices will leave a faint patina discoloration on INFI. If this bothers you, I recommend Mothers mag & aluminum polish to bring it back to new looking. HOWEVER, make sure you wash the blade really well after, and then either just dry or wipe with a food safe oil like mineral oil or Camellia oil and then wipe off the extra.

Mothers M & A polish did this to my neglected NMFBM... What you are seeing on the blade is water stains, tree sap residue, mild rust & some oxidation after I carelessly wiped it down and stuck it back in the cardboard sheath still wet...for almost a year before I pulled it out again for a show 'n' tell meet & greet with snwbrdr202. (I was on the phone and got distracted when I did this...boy was I surprised when I pulled it out and saw what I had done to my beautiful #27... :o:o)

With a mild patina discoloration, it takes but a few minutes to clean it up great...just remember to wash it off well after! Flitz will work also.
BTW, satin INFI does do well in a dishwasher... I have two kitchen duty blades, a BAD and a Cultellus, and I just toss 'em in the washer when done using them for food stuff.
