So I bent the tip on my gso-5

Haha! That guy, prying against a nail. I would more describe that as a badly deformed edge. I offered to sharpen that out but I've still never seen it back in my shop. Maybe one day or perhaps he cleaned it up himself. I would be very curious to know what he thinks of the new spec GSO-5.1.

I'm betting he would be really impressed with the new changes. His review actually sold me on the 5.1.

Do you have a photo or anything and have you contacted us at info@surviveknives.com about it? My next question is what side is the "bend" on? We did have some blades in that batch that got slightly "bitten" so to speak by the grinding wheel, out on the tip, on the flag side of the blade. If I could clean it up to where it wasn't really noticeable when sharpening I let them go since it didn't affect performance. The tip of those isn't really bent, the grinding wheel just bit into the "B" side tip a little bit, as it was finishing the grind, coming off of the panel and out into the tip. It might have been a little worse than what I thought it was, it is sometimes hard to see with the tumble finish. The new finish is much easier for us to inspect for things like that. I also think we've got the problem tracked down and sorted out for future production.

In any case, please send it back to us for an evaluation to the address on our website. If it is the issue I mentioned above, we'll gladly replace it for you. If it is actually bent, which seems much less likely, I'll replace that too.

Waiting for my 5 to arrive. Now I am worried that there may be a problem.

I don't think there's anything to worry about here guys....I bent the tip on my 5 a while back, and was still able to father another child afterwards...a beautiful little baby girl.

That is how I recall the Nutnfancy damage, a deformed edge. He likely got his Edge Pro after it.

No problems at all, I'm working through the last of those blades right now. I've beat the hell out of a few blades from that batch and they all seemed to perform really well.

I just got the email - my 5 has been shipped!!!!! I ordered mine on May 8th, if that helps anyone still waiting for yours to gauge it...oh man, what great news on a Friday!!

I don't think this really helps to gauge it as I ordered mine on April 30th and I'm still awaiting fulfillment. Apparently these are not being shipped in the order they were received.

I'm surprised to hear they are shipping so far out of order, but I'm sure there is a good reason. It is very encouraging to see people receiving their 5's on Facebook and Instagram. Hopefully we'll all have ours soon!!

I sharpen things up in batches, so I might do 20 with Ferro notches and then 20 without, some factory 2nds, and so on. We build them as the blades get finished up, so things might get slightly out of order because of that. We also rejected a recent batch of black canvas handles due to material defects. We should have replacements for those early this week.
