So I bought another Strider....

I was tossed up between a Sebenza and a Strider. I bought the Sebenza 25 but that strider was still an itch that needed to be scratched, so I ordered one.

I get what you're saying about the Sebenza being too nice, I carry it and carefully wipe it down, I don't do anything that could cause a scratch on the stone wash blade. I'll see if I feel the same way about the Strider. If I don't it defies logic because they're the same price.

Let me know since you did the same path I did.......

It really is crazy. I do not own a sebenza so I can't comment on that. But I use the heck out of my SNG. And I am not afraid to put it to hard use. It even came up clipped from my pocket and I accidentally stepped on it when trying to catch my balance. I ended up scraping it across the driveway a little. Now she has some beauty marks.

The strider just screams to be used hard.

I think I would hard use the sebenza if I had one though. I'm not one to buy them and not use them. I even carry and hard use my custom Alan Davis!

Yeah it's weird, I roll around under cars with my SnG, but couldn't even stand snail trails on my Sebs.

SnG CC when I got it.

I got the Strider today, fit and finish isn't on par with the Sebenza obviously, I'll post some pics later, nothing major but some imperfections.

But there is something about how it feels in the hand, mine cuts very well and the ergonomics are better than the Sebenza. I love the blade on the Strider too, thing is a beast. Mine is just the regular Ti with black G10 scale, nothing fancy, I like it, definitely fits a niche for me. Sebenza for when I'm at work typing away, cutting boxes, and slicing apples, Strider for working on my 8 acres, backup hunting blade, or just generally need a solid knife that I don't care if it gets dinged up.

I'd be curious to know how the ergos of the SMF are as I couldn't quite grow fond enough of the SnG ergos. It didn't feel right if I wasn't up in the choil, and I didn't necessarily like having to choke up on it all the time. The jimping was also a little bit rough on the thumb after extended use. It was surprisingly a decent slicer, but in the end I just couldn't get the ergos to work for me and was not a fan of how it carried in pocket. I decided to put those funds toward an Umnumzaan which I don't regret, and I have enough large, heavy duty folders to fill that niche. Not to say I'd never get another Strider, but the price would have to be right, and I'm glad I got to try one for a reasonable cost. Glad it's working well for you.

Congrats on the SMF! Striders seem to hide wear and tear really well, this things opened a few dozen cans and you'd be hard pressed to tell after just a few swipes with a scotch brite pad.

I like the SnG better as an edc, even though I have big hands. Something about the design, even on the SmF wants you to choke up on the choil. But the SmF gives more room not to. In a SHTF scenario, I'd take the SmF though...it is basically a prybar pretending to be a knife.

I might have to get the CC version......

Yeah I didn't like when not in the choil how the angled butt of the handle would dig into my palm. I think it was more so that when not using the choil the cutting edge just felt too far away or something.

Everyone's different. I find the SnG extremely ergonomic. The design fits the contour of my hand perfectly and feels very secure. The reverse grip is phenomenal with the big booty and jimping.

I know in my other thread I bagged on my perceived value of the SNG I bought, but carrying and using it the last two weeks, I have grown to really like the design. But I generally like bigger knives to EDC. I am 6'5" and weigh about 240. So I started looking at pics and vids of the SMF and it really did not seem that much bigger....the specs say so, but side by side?

While the knife was in route, I went to a knife shop near me and they had a few Striders that they got as trades. The only SMF they had was a SMF GG, and that looked large. I was wondering how the lego would be like when I got it.

So I got it today and it is a beast. It kinda dwarfs the SNG when held....but is very comfortable. I carried it all day and did not really notice it in my pocket. But don't get me wrong, the SnG carries better.

Anyhow, here are the pics of both. (The SMF does not look much bigger eh?)

Just curious. How can you support a valor thief/felon?

I was surprised that it took so long for one of you to pop in here.

If you want, we can look at everything you own, who you do banking with, where you shop and buy your food. As soon as we iron that out, maybe we can discuss this further.

Never takes them too long now does it? ;)

Hey guys I know this thread is about knives but let me bring up some unrelated thing that will sidetrack the conversation needlessly into a conversation that is guaranteed to both be unpleasant and go nowhere

Anyway, I've warmed up to the DOC and now think I'll get one (a different one without a coated blade) instead of a SMF. I still wish that 110v Tanto CC SNG I had was more my style, because it really was quite a knife...

Things are different when you tout around as a "special forces" ranger, trying to make your products seem "american", when in fact his conduct and lies spits in the face of every veteran in america. That is insulting to me. But I dont want to derail this thread.

Just food for thought.

If you didn't want to detail the thread, you would have asked that question in a PM or not said anything at all.
