Also, In some circumstances folks want a finish that diffuses light and does not act as a signal mirror. I have seen stone tumbled finishes that were a good compromise between a mirror and being sand blasted or blackened.

Doesn't this type finish hold up to abuse better cosmetically then most blacked finishes, or at least doesn't it show wear and scratches less?
 
Yes, it does. I don't understand the "ninja black" mentality, either. I guess I'm just old fashioned.

I think you guys are being a little hard on Bill; I also think that good polishing is a sign of craftsmanship. I also understand why someone might want something else for specific reasons.

Damn, I'm really understanding today, aren't I?! :D
