Been working hard, got a promotion, got a raise and makin a little money
wife even said i deserve to get me something a little special.

so i ordered me a buck 113. I really wanted a small fixed blade for hiking/general camping/edc purposes and the 113 just looks perfect. I THINK its going to be have a long enough handle for me, so here is hoping. But 3 1/8" blade with a point, yeah sounds just about right!
(I have a becker bk11 which i really like, but the handles is just too short, if i hold the handle hard the bottle cap opener just digs into my pinky and makes it very uncomfortable).

So i am just sharing, because i figure you guys will be excited for me too :D
lets be honest, wife couldnt care less what knife i get lol

anyways, its supposed to arrive by monday and hopefully i'll get some pics up monday or tuesday :D

please post pics when it comes . I have been interested in the 113 especially the Boone and Crockett Elk Handle

will do!
although mine is the normal variety not the spiffy elk handle or s30v variety :p

Congrats on getting a 113! I really like them and find that they offer a variety of comfortable grip options. The blade has a nice thin grind to it and the shape reminds me "very loosly" of the Vantage blade. I made a back pocket sheath for mine for taking on walks and doing stuff around the yard. I know that they named it the Ranger skinner, but for me this knife seems to be a great all around EDC fixed blade. Funny, but I have often wondered if the 13 in the 113 doesn't put some folks off from this one.
Looking forward to hearing your first impressions on your new Buck

Looking forward to the pictures when it arrives.

Congratulations on your promotion. I think you made a good choice. I'm also looking forward to seeing your photographs next week.

yeah pics to come for sure
and yay! i am glad someone is excited for me, wife was all "meh"

anyways, ordered the second part of my "reward" today
SAK Farmer, everyone swears by them, and i dont have anything with a saw blade on it, so...why not
and combined with free shipping deal, i came in at 10 cents under my reward budget...woohoo :D

SO, the buck 113 arrived today
i got home late from work so i took a couple pics in the remaining daylight
hope you enjoy

nice man! hope its everything you thought it'd be. I've only ever owned one buck folder when I was kid and it has long since disappeared, I like the blade though I might have to give them another look

yeah its pretty much exactly what i was hoping for
i was really nervous the handle was going to be too short for my XL hands, but its just perfect

essentially the fixed edc blade i have wanted for awhile. small enough to be practical, pointy enough to be useful in day to day and rather a pretty knife in my opinion :D

Looks good. Thanks for saying its comfortable for big hands. I've been wondering about that. I think I may have just found my next birthday present. Congrats on the promotion too.

That is a pleasant knife to look at. I like the grain on that handle too.:thumbup:

Very nice knife. What is your opinion on the sheath retention? I handled one in a store once and was surprised at how well it worked.

That is one sweet looking knife and I am sure with that grind it cuts well. Really really nice knife!!!

I havent had it long, but so far no problems
seems rather secure even without a strap
time will tell though

but so far so good :d

So today is my day off, and i decided to stick the little guy on my hip and carry that for the day.

Ended up in walmart, Kroger's, bass pro shop, and books a million, not one mention, not one freaked out person, i even walked past at least two cops and nothing was said.
granted I live in mississippi and i've seen folks walk around with Buck 119s on their hip so i FIGURED that a little 113 wouldnt faze anyone and it appears that i was right.

Tomorrow I work, in a warehouse but its a combination warehouse/retail type gig. we will see what the boss and customers think. If no problems, i think i have a new edc.
just so convenient, pull it out, cut whatever needs to be cut, put it back in the sheath and go about my business.

definitely small enough that i dont really notice, except occasionally when sitting down. But the weight is negligible and its big enough for all the knife jobs i had today.
I am a pretty happy camper
