I like the appearance of inlays on the small versions but functionally I can take or leave them. We'll see how the large with inlays pans out.
I'm not exactly in the same boat with you, photoman, but am at least next to yours in the water. I have this large "pre-Idaho" which was someone else's safe queen and is now mine. It's just so perfect I can't bear to put it in my pocket. I have a small 21 with cocobolo inlays I bought as a user, but the small does not fit comfortably in my hand and gets very little carry. My gnarly old carpenter's mitts need a larger handle and I should think the inlays, which I also like for appearance, would provide a better grip, but I don't really know, given my use of the knives I have.
My work EDC is a Knife Art CF large 21 (always accompanied by a beater) that has some light scratches on the blade (otherwise still quite beautiful) and whose ti side looks like it's been assaulted by giant snails from Mars. The grip on that is fine for me. All of my other ti handled knives have some sort of texture to them--CRK Wilson Combat StarTac, Les George WC Eagle, ZT 0801, etc--for better grip. That was so until I was surprised by a plain-Jane large 25 I bought off the Exchange, the flat slabs of which nestle very comfortably in my palm. Go figure.
So, I'm assuming that the inlays would give me a better grip and feel, but I just really can't say at this point based on the knives I've got and how I use 'em. Guess I'll just have to buy that inlaid Micarta large 21 Insingo to find out. Sigh....
BTW--nice pictures of some real nice knives you've posted. Here's my bocote safe-queen:
