So I finally got a CZ

Went to the gun store yesterday to see what was new and they had this beauty sitting there under the glass for $550.

I almost bought one ten years ago and didn't. I regretted it ever since as I had fired a couple CZ75B's before and I really liked them.

I really like this pistol. Its accuracy seems to be on par with my FN Hi-Power but it has a much more solid feel to it. It is stainless steel, but there's nothing "blingy" about it; it has an appealing matte finish.

Seems to me the CZ75B pretty much is a Hi-Power, but it is sleeker and more ergonomic.

Trigger pull on DA is a bit stiff but I've shot worse.

I think in a market dominated these days by tacticool plastic pistols and others with alloy frames, it's nice to have the option of buying an honest-to-goodness STEEL handgun of this quality.

Now I want a CZ97 .45acp! :D

That's all steel? Looks great!

Yep. The slide, frame, barrel, hammer, and trigger, and other parts are all stainless steel. I took a magnet to everything I could to check. Some parts are a blackened metal of some sort but they seem to attract the magnet.

I'm not sure about the recoil spring guide though. The magnet kept jumping to the spring.

But the really important parts are STEEL. Besides 1911's and old milsurp pistols, that's sadly rare these days.

I definitely want another CZ.

NICE ! I love the CZ 75s!! Are you sure it's made of stainless steel?? The CZ USA website doesn't list a SS variant. Maybe nickled?

Here is another stainless CZ. Note how the safety, slide stop, etc are silver colored. My CZ, the lower of the two I show above, is nickel (I'm sure about that). See how the controls on it are black.

So I do think that Brother Wolf's is stainless.

I have a 75B in 9mm, one in .40, and a Kadett Kit in .22. The Kadette kit is a great way to shoot cheaply. I had a 97B for a while, what a bloody great beast. it was huge so at least there was very little felt recoil.

I am a Glock shooter but your new nine rocks. Speaking of high-end foreign pistols, my dream semi-auto is the FN 5.7. I know they are pricey and have not seen any around.

How does the 97 compare to a 1911A1? The 1911A1 is the standard by which I judge all other .45's.

My bad Wolf 1989. Damn, no I have to get another CZ ! :)

Here are some of my CZs from my CZ collection:

Some picture of some of my buddies from Czechoslovakia. Customized CZ-75 (tuned, trigger job, and hard chromed), CZ Kadet .22 LR conversion (on a 9mm frame), and my 1953 CZ-52.

If I were at your house during a zombie infestation, I'd have a hard time picking between that delicious Kimber and that chromed CZ75. Both of them are fine weapons.

The CZ52 has some punch to it but it's about as ergonomic as a brick. I like them though because of their distinctive and menacing look. A CZ52 is all business and it looks like a pistol a Klingon would use.

Wold 1989 - damn your right about the CZ52 looking like a Klingon disruptor ! :)

You're both on the right track.

They use(d) CZ52 in the scifi hit Battlestar Galactica.
