So I got bit by the traditional bug...

Notice the photo in post #8, how the Queen made trapper has nice rounded bolsters and covers, while the Bear & Sons is flat and squarish. Also note the extra polish on the blades and the difference in the shields. Queen has the extra line around the circumference, and just looks better, neater. Once you learn the differences, the Queen made MMs just jump out at you with their extra quality.

I got my first slip joint when I was 6 yrs old, and I am 56 now, so I have actually been constantly carrying a knife every day of my life for 50 years. when I started carrying and using knives, tradition slip joints were pretty much all there was available, nobody I knew had a lock back then. I recon the last 35 years I have carried mostly the more modern lockblades like the Buck 110's, Case Shark's Tooths, Benchmades, Ka-bar's etc. But I never totally gave up on the slipjoints, but lately after hanging out on here, I have been buying and carrying more slipjoints. I really like the three GEC's I have recently purchased, and also a Queen and Northwoods toothpick. I think my favorite is however, a GEC Northfield #12 with the additional small pen blade added.

I think the Great Eastern's are very well made, and I am sure to end up with more of them.

I am currently in the same boat your were in. I have always been a modern folder kind of guy and still am. However, I have been spending a lot of time in this sub forum for no other reason than to pass time at work and I was instantly bitten by the traditional bug. Unlike you, I have never even owned a traditional but have been around them very frequently, also being a fellow Texan ( deep southeast texas). So now the question is where to start. I'm really liking that trapper. Not tryin to hijack the thread. Just wanted to say hello and commend you on the knife.

Absolutely zero apologies needed! I'm miles from even serviceably knowledgeable in traditional, but coming from the perspective of a modern folder carrying Texan, I like the big trappers. They are easy comfortable to use, feel sturdy, and relatively easy to open. I'm really happy to see a warm welcome here and I now have a tracking number on my case/Bose!
