So got this bar of laminated steel. Not anything special, just a peice of 1075 between two peices of mild steel. It's 11 inches long, and goes from a little less than 1 inch, to one inch(little bulge) and then back down to a little less than one inch width wise, and tapers from 1/4 thick to 3/16ths. I am having a hard time figuring out what to do with it?!? On the one hand I could to a traditional style japanese knife/tanto, on the other a kitchen knife, and on the other a double edge european style dagger, with a fuller forged/milled in, so you could see 1075 in the fuller, and then mild then 1075 along the edge. Please help!

He made it, of course!

Sam, I think you should be making me a sword for next weekend... just kidding.

Personally, I like the idea of a kitchen knife - possibly a larger and a smaller that match?

Keith, like Matt said I made it (first weld of anything for a blade!) I am liking the idea of a kitchen knife too so far most of all, not enough for two blades but one nice one would be good. And don't worry Matt, I am working on something special for the gladius challenge, hopefully I can get it done in time! If not, and there is atleast a two burner gas forge there I can finish it up there(might even just wait to do it when I get there).
