So i guess both my live and trainer P'kals are fake

P'kals are probably pretty safe. At least I've been unable to find any sightings of fake ones reported in the appropriate threads here and on Spyderco's own forum. OTHO, it's not just vendors located in China you have to watch out for anymore. There are plenty of eBay sellers in the USA and some in Canada trying to pass off the counterfeit knives they purchased from alibaba, or from someone who got them from alibaba, as genuine. Personally, I wouldn't trust gun shows or flea markets either anymore and, aside from the big name shows, might even be leery of buying at a knife show. I don't see that as paranoia, or at least not paranoia beyond the degree of it that's a synonym for common sense.

Yes, agreed!
Still maybe i was being slightly slightly para lol

thanks again guys, i do really apprecoate it!

Don't believe everything you see in a YouTube video, always consider the source maybe drawing from incorrect information or simply is passing rumor as fact. It's an easy thing to do and is pervasive.

I don't have the trainer, but your P'Kal looks exactly the same as mine, in every way, to the one I recently purchased from a reputable online dealer.

I think it's sad that fakes are so prevalent now that we have to be so paranoid about them. When I bought my first police knife in the 90's fakes weren't even on my mind. Now I won't buy anything off eBay anymore at all.

I'm beginning to think that's then way forward too.

I have a fake p'kal. Not only is there no box. The blade is hollow ground instead of flat ground.YThere are no markings on the blade whatsoever. It seems a bit heavier than the real ones I've handled.AGot it along time ago off of, you guessed it, ebay. It's the only fake p'kal I've seen.

There are plenty of places to buy a P'kal besides ebay...
Don't resort to ebay just to save a few bucks. Only resort to ebay if the knife is discontinued or otherwise unavailable everywhere else.

If you buy from reputable dealers only, you will never have to worry about fakes
