So I guess there's no more CS catalogs?

Maybe they are dropped forged with a rubber handle glued on? Not the same knife, but similar in profile. The drop forged stuff from Taiwan is very affordable.
That was my first thought too. The price point makes me think they should be called "Lite".

Yeah, very odd. Not apples to apples, but the kukri plus in 4034 garbage steel is around $250, so unless these are somehow different construction but they're using the TM and RS names, doesn't add up.
MSRP at Chcago Knife works is $213, sale price is $115. A French site has the RS at 189 Euros which is very close to MSRP. South African price is around $190.

MSRP on the Kukri Plus is $375...$250 is street price. So there's gotta be something very different about these 52100 versions to be that cheap.

I imagine that if they're drop forged, that cuts down on the machining and the is likely a bit cheaper than the other options. Probably cheaper than even SK-5, as it was sourced from a Japanese company and shipped to China and Taiwan.

Do we know if the dimensions are the same? I'd like to see them made with 1/4" stock and a sabre grind. That would be awesome! Throw in a full-profile tang and I'd buy right now!

I gotta tell ya, the thought of that is actually pretty exciting! The drop forged series are truly great knives. Once stripped, 52100 takes a great patina too.

We have been asking for these big knives in SK-5 ever since they came out with 4034 versions. We all said, "make it in a decent carbon steel and don't charge an arm and a leg, and it'll sell by the container full!" It looks like somebody finally listened! Hey Cold Steel, they'd also sell well in AUS8a;). While your at it, make a handle conversion kit for Trail Master/Recon Scout/Gurkha, consisting of a slip on G10 handle, replacement lanyard tube, and a cheap flairing device. Add instructions to use epoxy and you'll also sell boat loads of them at $50. If it goes well, make them for the SRK, as well.

These new 52100 "units" as Stickboy would call them are a perfect example of how messed up GSM is. No catalogs? Fine. But at least announce new stuff and have it on the website. Having to hear about these by word of mouth is so stupid. Prolly one of the best bang-for-the-buck releases in years, and not even on the website? WTF?!?!

The 52100 will "sell themselves" , so maybe GSM is hoping to move out the 4034 stuff, before advertising these ?

IDK . GSM has always confused and surprised me . So bad in some ways , brilliant in others . 🤷‍♂️
