Lie the title says, I have $60 and will get more in two weeks or so, anybody have anything have any suggestions. I'm currently in the market for a survival knife that's short, but any suggestions are welcome.:D

Save save and save more.

Don't you want a good knife not a cheap $60 one you will eventually not care about once you lay eyes on your nice knife?

$60 will buy you a Delica, I recently added one to my edc and its a fun little knife.

"Survival" covers a multitude of possibilities. What will be the primary use of the knife? What are you planning to survive? A couple days in the woods? A week in downtown Detroit? What does short mean to you? 3" blade? 8" blade? You want a folder or a fixed blade? With more details you will get better advice.

Get $10 more and buy a Becker BK17, BK2, or BK9. And for those saying that a $60-70 bushcraft fixed blade isn't fancy enough, trust me, Beckers are all the fixed blade that you will ever need. If you use an expensive knife for batoning/chopping/etc., you will cry when it gets beat up. Becker or ESEE? Nah. They don't get beat up--they get used!

I'd say try out the Schrade schf14 or schf13 they seem like pretty decent mid-sized survival knives and for only $30.

spydercobenchmadekai, you are among the most helpful people on this forum! I understand we are both young knife users.

Thanks! And Becker or ESEE will do anything that a knife should do, for less than or around $100 each. Come on over to the BK&T sub forum--we don't bite, and there are lots of nice and knowledgeable people yonder.

Get an Izula with kit. In your price range, an excellent excellent blade with a nice survival kit w sheath and fire steel that comes with it.

Got some money, what'd I do? I bought some quicksand, the deal fell through.

Becker BK16 would be a good choice for around $70. Or if you can't wait for two weeks, get a Condor Bushlore or Bushcraft Basic for about $30 and save the rest.

Are you familiar with Scandinavian-style knives like those from Mora, Ahti, or Marttiini? A Marttiini Lynx will set you back about $35. Mora knives cost a bit less than that, and Ahti cost a bit more.

I agree a $60-70 good quality fixed blade can be found. But I disagree with saying you'll cry when an expensive knife gets beat up. Go check out the busse threads those guys love showing their users and abusing their blades! Plus I love using my own busse's and kin :)

But to the question at hand I would recommend a RAT-3 they're a pretty good bang for your buck!

I like it. (15, 16, and 17 share the same sheath.) Here's a picture:
