I ordered this knife and have had it for about two weeks now. It is the clip point 4" with green Gmascus. Tell you the truth I really cant tell you if I like it or not. Seems well built and all but just dont know, you know? Been carrying a Benchmade Auto Stryker daily for over ten years. It came shaving sharp but not just OMG Sharp to quote something my daughter would say. Opinions?

I really like the EX01. It's a lot of knife for the money. I have your exact knife combo and it is a great edc. The only thing I would change is the pocket clip color to black. Being a spoon type of clip and silver, it attracts attention. My Hoge came very sharp. I would strop the blade and see if that doesn't produce the edge you are looking for. I must admit my taste lately have been For high end custom flippers. The EX01 has found a home on my boat.

sound like you need something else. If a knife doesn't stand out to me I lose interest really quick. I got a chance to handle a 3.5 model and really liked it, but alas i bought a Small Sebenza, now that felt great from the get go and I haven't carried a clip knife in 7 months. Pretty sure this one is here to stay. My only gripe with the Hogue is its a righty only and I like to carry left side even if its a right hand lock. It may be the perfect time to find a new Auto Stryker:) As for the sharp thing I would just sharpen it up the one I played with wasn't the sharpest either but that can be changed.

I had one, but it was the 3.5" model, from the moment I took it out of the box I didn't like the way it felt in the hand. It felt very unbalanced, blade heavy to be exact. I don't really like that lock type either. I'm more accustomed to liner locks, frame locks, and back locks. If the knife had full liners then I would have felt better about it. The clip was another thing I did not really feel crazy about, it seems like the handle as a whole could have been done a little better. I sold it the same day I received it, just wasn't my cup of tea.

I got the same 4" clip green Gmascus as the original poster. Great knife, more than sharp enough to keep me happy. Sits on my desk mostly, but I've carried it right rear pocket, where I like my Chinook 3 or Military. Only reservation I have is it is a bit bulky. Especially in warm weather, ya gotta be real good to replace the Military! :D

I got my 3.5 version about a month ago I like it. I had to get used to the lock but al in all it's a sweet knife.

Send it to me. I'll be able to tell you for certain if I like it or not, then we will have an answer to this matter once and for all. :D

I called Hogue to ask whether a different clip might be available for the smaller EX01.
The sales person I spoke with said no and was so rude about it and my other questions that they lost a sale.

That is not good to hear at all. Sounds like that person needs to work in the packaging area and far, far away from any contact with customers. I'm surprised in this day and age that so many people have no clue what morons can be on the phone when no one is watching/listening. What else did you ask aside from the question about the clip?

I like the EX01. It's a well made, cool design folder. If you don't like it for some reason, you shouldn't have any problems getting rid of it.

I had to contact customer service on my EX01. I was having an issue with the blade loosing up so I gave them a call and they were great to deal with . They had me send it back and they overnight me a new ex01. I love this knife and this is my EDC knife so it gets used everyday.

I asked about the new model and when it might be available and whether it would have functional thumb studs in addition to a flipper.

The person I spoke with could not answer any of my questions and could be heard in the background repeating the questions to someone else.

I asked to speak to someone who could answer my questions and she refused.

She also wanted to know how I knew about the new model. I read about it on the forums. She said I wasn't supposed to know about it.

This was an unpleasant encounter with an unpleasant representative of a company that I'm sure makes fine products. Although the new model might be just what I want, I doubt I'll be buying it.

Sounds like Hogue better get a idea of what knife people are all about if they are seriously getting into the knife game. Knife folks tend to take their equipment and the company that sells it more than a basic product.

i had a 4" tanto aluminum ex01. the quality was amazing, an obviously well built knife with attention to the minutest details

that said i traded it as I'm particular about how a knife feels in my hand. i must say though that the only knife i've handled that was of better initial quality is my sebenza.

I have a 4" clip point gmascus. I don't carry or use it very much because I have several knives I like better than the Hogue......I should probably trade it for something else.

I'm pretty sure they do (they have Allen Elishewitz on their team right about now), it's just the people they have on the front lines are not knowledgeable. That is why I was suggesting putting that person in charge of taping up boxes or something that would not require human interaction. That is a problem with a lot of knife companies that have phone reps that have no clue about knives.

It is a popular well built knife no doubt I am not knocking the quality at all. It is purely my point of view on the asthetics for me.
