So I lost my small Sebenza 21.....

Only knife I ever lost was a Kershaw Leek, while out on a ride on my Softail. I almost lost a Large Starbenza - found it clinging by it's clip to the liner of my coat. That coat 'bout met it's demise.

It came out because he was laying down with loose pants on. That can easily happen with an unclipped knife, or with one in a smooth pouch. If it had been clipped it wouldn't have came out in this case.

Yes I've seen that thread, and posted in it in reply to your comment below about how you think most use a clip for reasons such as "herd mentality, cool factor, and machismo:D

PS: I have a suspicion about pocket clips. I think that most people who use them are motivitated by something other than necessity. Convenience, herd instinct, the "cool" factor, machismo all come to mind.

I'll stand by what I said. As far as I'm concerned, a clipped knife is a lost knife waiting to happen . . .

Yeah right, all of us that carry a clipped knife do it because of one of these reasons... "herd instinct", "cool factor", or "machismo"

No one carries a clipped knife for one of those reasons. Hard to believe someone would really think that, but I guess we now know one that does.

if i lost my small sebenza i would probably look for it and cry then repeat over and over glad she is safe now though.

I carry a clipped knife due to nerd instinct, drool factor, and... i love pistachios.

Also, clipped knives are insanely convenient. ;)

OP, that would freak me out. I check for my blade regularly; twice as much for the Sebenza. Congratulations on your good fortune.

I typically carry my knives clipped, and do so for a number of reasons. It keeps the knife vertical in my pocket. It makes the knife more accessible. It makes the knife "carry lighter". It enables wave deployment on my Emersons. It prevents them from becoming "coin washed". Beyond that, I have never even considered what someone else might think about it, so look elsewhere for "herd instinct" on other such nonsense.

take the sebenza, and put it in a box. Put the box in the safe. Forget you have it. Now it won't ever get lost again.

I too carry a small Sebenza, with mine clipped to my front pocket. Constantly checking to see if its still there. Probably will never get totally comfortable with it clipped. Glad you got yours back!

I misplaced a small Seb at work one day and started to panic. About an hour later a co-worker came up to me and asked what I thought he could get for a knife on eBay and proceeded to pull my Sebenza out of his pocket! He knew I was sweating and it was sort of funny. I actually sold that knife because I didn't like worrying, but alas I had to have another.

My sebenzas are carried in slipcase in my pocket. I don't like anything on my belt any more. Cell phones, multi tools, knives - if I can't find a pocket for them to ride in then they don't go.

That being said - I have a variety of knives that are my beaters - I carry them when I think I might have to lend it out, do some real dirty work, or may lose them. Two of my favorite beaters are ZT blems.

If its winter, I sometimes put my Sebenza in my zip pocket inside my Carhart jacket.

I carry a small expensive knife (without clip) in my jeans' watch pocket, and sometimes, when I pull them down to use the toilet, it falls out on the floor. Now I'm very careful (*_*).

As I acquired my massive CRK folder collection - a 'StarTac' 'zaan and a plain small Sebbie - I splurged and got the clip hole cover and leather slip case each (both) of them. The only thing I carry clipped to my pocket is my Surefire E1b Backup flashlight - and my Jeep's seat belt frequently dislodges it. Oh, I remove clips from all of my knives for one reason - comfort in the hand. I hate clips - they really alter the way a pocket knife feels in the hand . I carry 'good' knives in otherwise empty pockets in my cargo pants - users in my LH front pocket (The RH is reserved for something else.). If I lose my small Sebbie, I'll be missing a sheath, too!

I've lost one SAK, one Buck 110, and one Western 66 hunting knife in my life - all lost years ago - I'll be 65 this summer. I also 'lost' my then favorite EDC - a green Kershaw Scallion - my first Kershaw. It was dark as I filled the three foot deep hole I had to dig to splice a patch in my cheapo water service tubing. I had used the Scallion to cut/deburr the tubing. I washed my hands - then recalled where I had left it. I was out when the sun rose - shovel again in my blistered hands. It was at the bottom - parallel to the patch. Despite dissecting it and cleaning it carefully, it still feels 'gritty'... but I found it! Odd how you always have dirt left over when you refill a hole - even after digging the original hole again the next day! I am more careful.
