Hey yall!

First let me say I'm not upset about this at all. It's a user, marks don't bother me. I'm just confused.

I had a rare day a few days back, and all I did with my knife was cut some cardboard with a sticky label on it. I think that was 3 or 4 days ago, and I made the mistake of not wiping my blade off. It's an s110v manix, so I wasn't too worried about it. Got in a rush, and threw my manix xl in the pocket instead, I needed to do some real big knife stuff.

So I came back to that lovely blurple tonight, and went at it with an old t shirt and some rubbing alcohol. Can't get this mark off, or even fade! I didn't think I would be staining my blade, especially considering all I cut was essentially tape. I just don't get it! So, how corrosion resistant is s110v really? I've left tape residue on blades for weeks before, with no issues. Guess this tape was just special.

try methylated spirit, wd40, goo-off. autosol/flitz etc will work but you need to polish the whole blade if you don't want shiny spots/areas in some parts only.

I use my pm2 s110v to slice acitic fruits daily, and will have days with no axcess to water. I could guess I've gone 12+ hours with apple/oranges/food/tape/cardboard/plastics on the blade. (It only gets washed before eating.) And besides wear marks from using the hell out of the thing, I've seen no sight of patina or staining. I do not treat this thing fairly.

I use brass polish and elbow grease. Stains disappear like magic. Scratches don't quite disappear, but they get a whole lot less noticeable. It is important to remember to work the entire blade, not just the scratch or stain. Even if you end up making your blade shinier, at least it will be uniform. A small shiny spot where a stain or scratch used to be is not going to be any better looking than the stain or scratch was.

Speaking of magic, has anyone ever tried Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I have thought about trying it on my old 1095CV SRK. It has a ton of scratches to experiment on, but I always forget to buy them. I've heard of them being used on stainless pots and pans as well as kitchen knives and even glass cooktops, to great effect.

That's interesting to see. I've left tape on even D2 for far longer than I should, or care to admit, without having any staining.

alchohol is not always the best at removing adhesive residue. I would try lighter fluid and then some flitz.

WD40 will probably work well. I use that as well for tape residue, I used to rub a piece of cloth with alcohol on my knives for minutes, before I discovered it takes 2 seconds using WD40.

I left a manix2 s110v lightweight point down in water to loose some food that dried on the blade. Forgot it overnight and found two very small corrosion pit mid-blade; about a sixteenth inch apart.
