Well, I dont know what came over me.

Once upon a time I bought a lava, its been great ever since.
Then a while later, I read so many great things about the mini-manix, I bought one of them too... and its been great as well. Didnt really need it, but now that its here seems to get an awful lot of use.

Then I read a thread about some spydies not being available anymore, so I thought, heck, that T-Mag looks kind of cool, what have I got to lose.
Then, I thought its a very long way for it to travel on its own to Australia, so I added an SE caly3 and a black CPM30V native to keep it company on its journey.

Im not really a knife person. One is more than enough. I now will own 5 spydercos.... I know thats not many for lots of people here... but for me ... well if you would have told me a few months ago I would shortly have 5 spydercos I would have laughed and laughed and laughed at you...

...and I have no interest in buying any other brand of knives! I have no idea why I just bought 3 more spydies. But I did.

Its an odd feeling. Im sure I cant be the only one who has felt it.. *ponders*

You must be kidding that you are not knife person.

It is all right. I bought few BM and Kershaws and sold them, so do not waste your time

You are perfectly fine, most of us started the same way. It is happened with me little more than two years ago.
good luck

Yep that’s how it happens all right, for me the gateway drug was a Para. I love my spydies but I also think that other manufacturers occasionally have some good offerings. I think it's a lot of fun to have knives with similar characteristics from different manufacturers so I can see how they compare.

Didn't anyone tell you the bonding agent in Spyderco G-10 is crack cocaine? :D

I remember back when I had only two Sypdies. Must have been all of three years ago. I think I have about fifty now. ;)

I'm a knife person and I only own 7 knives, 6 of them being Spydercos. Who are you foolin?

Im not sure whether to :( or :) at this stage...

And I guess I can no longer be the fool......

And I know that there is a 2008 catalog coming through and I know I will at least want the Phoenix... thats 6...... And hell, shipping to Australia costs half the knife price so I cant buy just one......

Gah....

I may have a ratio of five Spyderco's to every Kershaw, but that doesn't mean the other brands are a waste of time. Just a good distraction.

I forgot the byrdrench..... thats 6  ... thats where it all started come to think of it...

At the time I thought it really is the coolest looking multi-tool I have ever seen.. liked it so much I bought one for everyone in the office. Everyone in the office agrees too, it is really the coolest looking multi tool around... but you know what... lacking a bottle opener, it doesnt seem to get used as much as the various SAKs floating around... its not that the rench is less useful, but when it comes time to open a bottle, a SAK is definitely more useful... I reckon that if the byrdrench had some bottle opening method to it, all those SAKs would be drawered and forgotten.... Yet I digress..

That was back in July I think... It really doesnt take long once it starts does it...
...At my current rate Im averaging 1 new spydie/month....

I'm probably at the 50 + range for my current spydie stock pile. Mabye a couple of hundred including the BMs, CRK, and customs. It's disgusting but I can't help it.

Welcome to the club... we own your money.

got a caly 3 cf zdp for my birthday last summer and have since added a manix, a military cf bm42, persian, captain, and found an ayoob. It IS an addiction. I am looking at adding 3 or 4 more before the years end. Something about seeing that dark blue box and knowing the perfection that resides within. I think what really has attracted me to Spyderco is the total design of the knife - blade steel, ergonomics, finish, innovation, collaborative design, everything that we all love about the knives just seems to come together in a very nice package.

There is comfort in knowing I am not alone...

Now, how does one explain an extraordinary number of folding blades to ones friends, family, partner...? Any ideas?

I don't even bother trying to explain.

"If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand" is always a good line :D

I explain it by loaning them a knife for a day or two. Not anything that I couldn't replace, but a good working folder, something small, like a ladybug or delica. Nine times out of ten, they give the knife back saying they want one. Makes Christmas shopping easy. Sister in law is pinning on Captain at the end of the year, something a little nicer in store = Bark River Bravo 1.
