So I stood there waiting...

I think I need to get a 112 auto, only decision would be which blade steel. Do any of you steel experts have an idea of the degree of saltwater corrosion resistance of S30V vs. 420HC? OH
I'm bo steel expert, but I'm a lobster fisherman who works on the Atlantic Ocean who has taken 110 folders out to see how much thry would rust, both 420 hc and s30v will rust about the same,if not rinsed off well ,it will be a fair amount .

I can tell you that buck alaskan guide s30v coated blades do not rust up like un coated blades.

Are you guys carry the 501 in a sheath? Since the 110 and 112 have no safety Buck agreed to build but there had to be a special sheath built so the button wasn't pushed in the pocket. Not a matter of if, but when.it would be deployed otherwise.
I don't carry the 501 in the sheath, nor the 110 in a sheath, I did have it open on me once though.

A coworker had a Kershaw auto come open in his pocket.
Not only did it cut his leg pretty good, but it cut his hand when he reached into his pocket to get the knife.
He hasn't carried the knife since, as it has no sheath.
Pocket carrying an auto is something I would think twice about.

Thanks, I’m not out NEARLY as much as you are (I’m a sport fisherman only) so sounds like either would work fine for me. OH

yep. own a bunch of Kershaw launches. I never carry Kershaw launch autos due to lack of safeties. recessed buttons arent safeties. george schrade tried that over 100 years ago and stopped cause they didnt work, and started putting safeties on his autos. also yep, the Buck 110 autos sheath is its safety.
