So I took out a small GEC congress to cut a piece of tape at work yesterday ...

Let me preface by saying ... I work an office job in NJ. I heard one of the ladies behind me talking to her friend saying "I don't feel safe". I've had a pocket knife with me every day since I was 11 years old when my dad got me my first (circa 1975) ... such a messed up state of affairs we live in today. I wouldn't be surprised if I get an invitation to the H-R office any day now ...

This is why I live and work around rednecks!

She probably doesn't feel safe because that's not a knife.

I’m so glad I live in Kansas and middle America.it’s mostly rural where I live. Here in Kansas we have constitutional carry any knife, any size, open or concealed, in vehicles no restrictions except the usual like schools, court house and jails. Around here i see most people carrying at least a pocket knife and some carry a 5 inch fixed blade on their hip. Nobody says a thing unless they need you to cut something for them.

Someone asked me why I carried a knife?
I told them “I was worried”
“Worried about what”?
“Worried I’ll have to cut something”
Then I said “If you need something cut, I’ll be there for you”
Exactly. Unless she's got them grade school safety scissors that can't cut paper either, they're probably more dangerous than a tiny non-locking pocket knife.
I have a friend who lost an eye because his safety scissors jammed he pulled too hard and stabbed himself. He was in elementary school.

Unbelievable.
Does she walk around on her feet without a helmet?

I retired from a Fortune 50 corp, working in a cubicle farm.

One day I showed a friend my new AG Russell Acies.

A young lady in the row of cubicles saw the knife, my mistake, and she loudly blurted " IS THAT A WEAPON??!!??"

I just told her no, it isn't a weapon.

This all happened in a decidedly Midwestern area.

Hope you don't get a talki....

I'm gonna say she probably dislikes you for whatever reason and the "safety" excuse is just her way of jumping on an opportunity to justify her opinion. It'll be a waste of time trying to explain to her why you have a knife, but hopefully HR will be receptive if she actually is petty enough to go that route.
