I'd like to get one with pleanty of tools, and an old school classis design. This will be for some edc/BOB.The Champion Plus looks pretty nice, any others i should check out also?SO many choices!!!

U mean the Swisschamp? If I can throw in my 2 cents here, it's too thick to be comfy...try thinking out what tools would be good for u, and reduce the thickness of the SAK as much as possible, especially if u want to carry it in your pocket. Otherwise, a Leatherman (or any pliers based multitool) would be more handy, but if u want an "old school design", then that's more likely to be a 91 mm SAK.
Take a look at the Climber, the Explorer, the Super Tinker, to get an idea.

You could look at the CyberTool range too. They have a nice bit driver and bit kit on board.

I EDC a Swisschamp some days and don't have a problem with it but it is thick. I do agree that the thinner models are easier to carry but lack some of the "all inclusiveness" of the Swisschamp.

If you want a classic take a look at the Pioneer or Farmer. The Alox models look very nice and are very thin and sturdy.

The Huntsman has a great array of tools for woods and edc, while still being pretty pocket-friendly. I edc'd one from the age of 12 to 30 and used it for everything.

The ChampionPlus is an excellent SAK. I carry one in a pouch (with a flashlight) every time I leave the house.

It is a big/thick SAK. Not as big as some of the CyberTool(s) or a SwissChamp (SC has one more layer with little pliers) but I don't mind because I wear cargo type pants all the time and I like things in my pockets :p

In the colder months I carry things in jacket/coat pockets so if you have the room (pockets) and don't mind carrying things in them the ChampionPlus or any of the bigger/thicker/more layers/tools SAKs will be fine for you.

In a B.O.B. the bigger ones work fine because more tools in such a small package is a good thing but if your going to carry it on you all the time and your not used to carrying things on yourself then the thinner/smaller SAKs (like mentioned) might be a good idea.

On my key-chain I carry a Spartan that I switched out the scales (the red plastic/cellidor covers) with bright yellow glow in the dark ones (stayglows).

Lotta people like the Farmer which has metal scales (Alox) but no slots for toothpick and tweezer but it is sweet and feels like it can take anything and will last forever that many of us really like.

But if you really like that ChampionPlus (I do) and your used to carrying things, go for it! the "Plus" models have a pen in a scale (besides the tweezers and toothpick) and let me tell you I use it all the time!

Lets see how long it takes you to find the straight-pin (ChampionPlus has one) that I also use often lol

Good Luck and let us know what you get!

Thanks for all the advice so far!I'm also looking for a small model for a keychain. Are the flashlight models worth getting?

Huntsman , Ranger , and Handyman/Craftsman are good choices . I've owned them all , at present I rock a Handyman . I carry it no probs . , using a Monroe Dangler .

I EDC a Silvertech Midnite Manager, which is the Manager with LED light instead of tweezers. The light is small, but it's just about bright enough to help with short and small tasks in the dark (like finding your way in the cinema, a key hole, a dropped screw, etc.)

I also carry a serious AAA LED light (Fenix L0D at 80 max lumens), but it rarely gets used because most of the time the Midnite Manager is good enough.

The Explorer Plus is one of my favorites to EDC.

This is the correct answer. My EDC knife changes often, but I always have an Explorer Plus in my pocket. Its just too handy to leave behind.

When I think "classic" SAK the Camper immediately comes to mind. But you said you like tools so lets bump that up to the Ranger, maybe the Huntsman. Most of us love Alox but classic SAK means red, and has the scale tools. You also want one for the keychain. Nothing is more classic than the Vic Classic. That is my choice, but as you've seen many like the Rambler and there are other 58mm styles as well. I'm suprised no has given you the best SAK advice of all. Get one of each.:)

the mechanic wins hands down in my books. if you tinker on things at all the pliers are worth there weight in gold

I love my mechanic.. I think. may be a craft's man. But I like that it has a scissor's, pliers, saw and file for tools plus knives, awl, screw drivers and other thing.

I read somewhere that the Spartan is the direct descendant of the original officer knife, so I think the Spartan can be considereds a real classic too. I'm not sure how you'd like to organise your EDC items, but I prefer combining multitools. A simple SAK like the Cadet, Soldier, Tinker or Spartan combined with a pocket size plier based multitool like the Leatherman Juice S2 is one of my favourite combinations. I like the pliers on the Juice S2 more than the ones on my SAKs and I prefer the blades on the SAKs.

I just got the Swisschamp with black scales in a trade. Great if you carry it in a sheath, not so much in your pocket.

The Champion Plus is available at an excellent price, I say - buy one!
It has the tools of the Ranger + the tools of the Explorer and has plus scales, what's not to like?

Just ordered an Explorer, got it from the same dealer as my Spirit plus MT.They should both ship out tomorrow, can't wait to get them!!!
