I know it's probably been done a million times before, but we should have an updated discussion:D

If civilization collapsed, what non-firearm weapons or set of weapons would you want with you?

I'm biased towards blades because I'd think you'd run out of ammo for your gun long before you wear down or (if you're unlucky) destroy your bladed weapons. I, for one, can neither stockpile a lifetime's worth of ammo nor can I manufacture it. I imagine it'd even be difficult for the average joe to maintain anything but the most basic of bows. But I can at least sharpen a blade, make and use a spear, or swing a club.

So what say you?:)

This is meant to be a fun "what-if" thread; just tell us what already crafted weapon or weapons or tools you'd like by your side if the shit hit the fan. If this is a stupid thread and doesn't belong here, then I sincerely apologize...please disregard this and move along. Otherwise, we'd appreciate any suggestions, from the most inane to the most practical :)

This might be a question to ask on the wilderness survival forum. There are many primitive weapons that are easier to make (though not easier to use :D ) than a bow.

The average person can probably make a sling, staff sling, bola, rabbit stick, Apache star, and maybe an atlatl and darts. The atlatl is easy to make, but the arts would be as difficult as arrows.

If you are in an urban environment and making primitive weapons out of modern materials, some of the weapons might be easy to make. Blowguns would be very easy to make, and so would their darts.

Seriously, a good machete would be my first pick.
 
A recurve bow and some arrows.

A high-powered cocking air pellet gun.

And a Kabar Marine knife.
 
I would like a solar-powered steam-shovel.

You can live in it.
Dig, dredge and destroy things.
Convert it into all sorts of machinery and blades when kaput.
 
I would want the knowledge how to make knives, bows, arrows, spears. Also I would want to have my Ka Bar kukri machete, a multi tool, SAK, and at least some of my Spydies.
