So, I'm getting a 0560BW, and I want to get the newest generation with the steel lock bar insert. at what serial number did this version start. Also, have the problems with ZT's ELMAX been solved? I have also heard about problems with 0560s having a very weak detent, has this been a issue with newer models of this knife? I live in Canada so it is illegal for me to have a knife that can be opened by gravity so the detent is important to me. Any other changes that have been made to the newest version of the 0560 that I may not have seen on previous reviews of older models without the lock bar insert that I should know about? Thanks in advance.

i have a 0560blk serial number 0786 and can tell you that not only is the detent strong as hell but I have observed 0 problems with the elmax. I carry mine every day and have cut darn near everything and have found ZT elmax to be as good as anyone elses (bark river specifically)

Mine is almost too hard to use the bladestops to open it and gravity alone would be insufficient. I always use the flipper. The ball bearings are like oiled glass.

I did have a small break in period for the flipper but found the lockbar to be solid and smooth. Others mentioned applying graphite to their lockbar where it touches the blade but I had no such problems.

hope that helps

ZT really fixed the issues that plagued the original 0560. I sold mine because of the terrible detent and flipping action. Recently handled a new 0560BW with the lockbar insert and was shocked by the improvement.

I just bought one last week, has lockbar insert, (very) strong detent, I couldn't be happier. Bought from a well known Canadian knife dealer, I don't believe they're affiliated with the forums so I won't say who at this time.

I love mine.
