So is discussion of Ganzo knife company banned from this site?

Ganzo has earned their reputation here and doesn't deserve to be discussed in a positive way.

This is a quote from the owner of Spyderco, Sal Glesser.
That's the first time I've read that from Sal. Ganzo is down right disgusting and deserves every bit of the vitriol they receive. Anyone who supports them too.

Wow, I was unaware of this comment from Spyderco. If a first-rate, class act gentleman like Sal Glesser had this to say about them, then that speaks volumes.

I've never considered purchasing a Ganzo, for obvious reasons, but I have looked at some of their knives for reference when previously reading these types of threads here. They won't get another second of my time going forward, however.

yep.

this is true in many industries. including mine. at the ashrae shows some of the more unscrupulous Chinese makers are running around taking picture, brochures and samples and head right back to china to backward engineer it and sell it cheaper.

not all are that way though. some show respect and decency.

They are thieves plain and simple. Selling crap knives with designs stolen from reputable knife companies. Not welcome here reminds me of the flea market type of junk. I’m sure as said you can talk about them but I’m sure you’ll get the same responses you are receiving now.

What's there to discuss man? They are a cheaper, lesser quality knockoff of some of the most discussed models in the industry. What point was the point of the desired discourse?

To discuss some nuanced difference in quality or type of materials employed? Basically everything, save for new releases and new designs, has been discussed ad nauseam. Theres no real discussion to be had here and if there is, its blatantly obvious that you are well aware of the social stigma involved. So what is your point?

It's obvious. This place is for enthusiasts. Sal, the CEO of Spyderco, is an active and cherished member of our community. What in God's name did you expect? Say, if I came over your best friends house and took food out of his mouth, his wife's mouth, his children's mouth, and then wanted to talk about how would you feel about the discussion? Get real dude. You're shaking the proverbial hornets nest and you know it. Dramamine drubbing at it's most pitiful. On a knife forum, once removed, and about clones, something you dont even have a stake in.

This is trolling. I'm glad you've been lambasted and hopefully it culminates in a bad. Think twice...you know.

There is a difference between a subject being prohibited and being frowned upon. The overwhelming majority of BF members have very strong negative opinions of Ganzo and others with similar business practices. Consequently, threads discussing them (or others) quickly devolve into a cluster. What's the point? There's nothing to be gained by doing it over and over and over and...

My point is our community will derail all ganzo discussion in attempt to get the thread locked based on their view of the company and their past. But like a mod said discussion of them is allowed. There are members of the community that sell them in the exchange and they are carried by US dealers including one that's a dealer of the site. The community doesn't want anything ganzo yet sponsors on here are authorized dealers of them.

You'd think the community would care more about sponsors on here being authorized dealers of Ganzo, Vs getting upset with the consumers who show interest in them. It's backwards.

I care not one iota about what the dealers here sell it's not in my lane that's @Spark lane. Second is there some nuance that needs discussed between a $15 knock off vs $10 knock off? I'm sure there are places on the net where you can discuss that stuff in relative peace but that place isn't here and if that's your think maybe that's where you should go. Third you can't have a discussion about them if no one will discuss them with you so that power happens to sit with the community.

There isn't much else that is going to be gained by leaving this open.
As said earlier..Discuss all you want, but don't be surprised at what becomes of the thread.
Dealers sell a wide variety of knives..and those dealers are approved by Spark. His site, his rules.

This one made it a few hours and probably would have been closed earlier had I had my coffee..Now that I am caffeinated..to the depths.
