The edge of that JK looks like it would chop wood quite well, does it? And, how does it's weight/balance compare to the Winkler and RMJ's?

Hi there. What is the make/model of the hawk in the middle picture on the far right please? Also,,, I'm well jelly.

foxx--The JK has been tried out on some dried mesquite and it did quite well. It is well balanced and feels quite stout with its thick G10 scales. To me the RMJs feel lighter so they are a little quicker in the hand. The Kestrel is a pleasure to carry. It is light, balanced and compact. The Winkler may be the best combination of weight and good ergos.

freenarative--welcome to bladeforums! The hawk on the far right is one of five prototypes made of the RMJ Emergency Response Personnel (ERP) Kestrel.

jay--that camo Winkler is a thing of beauty!!

Awesome collection tiburon. I got bit by the tomahawk bug but you got devoured :)

yeah, yeah it starts qith one and then it is like potato chips, can't have just one. very nice group.

Now if you ever want to start a hotwheels and matchbox collection let me know, I got a thousand or two and I would be happy to trade with you. :D

jwaj; LOL, you are so right.

omniviking: damn I wish I still had all of those all of those hotwheels I had as a kid... I could sell them and buy more hawks!

Sweet collection dude. I have been meaning to get a hawk, I want to start with something I can throw, any recommendations?

For throwing I might opt for one of the CS hawks. From previous posts on the subject it seems like a lot of guys have been throwing them for years with good results. Tough and cost effective. :)

I do find it addicting... still waiting for my Winkler to come in, as well as the new Swamp Rat hawks.
The CS hawks work great for throwing... easy to maintain when they get messed up. Any wooden hawk handle WILL break and they are fairly easy/cheap to replace.

Which Winkler are you getting?

I am also looking forward to the arrival of my DWinkler combat ax, purchased from gixxerman.

I want a Winkler Combat axe, and a few others. His tapered tangs are excellent for mass distribution.
