Hi, I've got a little spare cash, and I'm looking to pick up some stuff. I'm not too picky, I just want something with a blade. I was looking at maybe getting a cheap leatherman, (like the sidekick) and then another decent blade. I like folders, multitools, slip joints, and some fixed blades, but I am still open to suggestions, and any would be appreciated. Thanks for your time!

One of the new cold steel folders with the upgraded steel might be nice. I have my eye on a recon 1 spear point.

Can't go wrong with a Leatherman. If had $100 to spend buying new knives would get the Sidekick and a Spyderco Manix,Cold Steel Recon 1/Hold Out 2 or Kershaw Blur/Rake/JYD.

Leatherman Wingman, Sidekick and Wave are all great choices. The Wave may be a little too much I you are looking to buy new.

As for a folder you could easily pick up a new Sidekick or Wingman and a Kershaw Skyline or Blur. You could probably even pick up a large or small BM Griptillian of of the exchange. All are great choices also.

ETA: You can get a Sidekick on Homedepot.con right now for $24.97 with free shipping to store.

Gerber dime is under $20. Great little multitool perfect for putting with keys to take it everywhere you go.

A Victorinox + an Opinel + an Ontario RAT 1 + a Leatherman Sidekick

Leatherman wingman to go inside the sheath pouch of a kabar bk16.

I've got a Rat 1 in my pocket. Beautifully executed liner lock in coyote brown with a 3.6" AUS-8 blade that is shaving sharp and easy to keep that way. Flow through, pillar construction and a handle that shows the designer knew something about ergonomics. It's a superb knife (and I say that as a ZT fan boy) that costs under $40.

Highly recommended.

Do some research and spend all $100 on one quality knife instead of a few cheap ones. All good recommendations above except the cold steel...unless you can't afford anything more.

My advise... get everything used. Knives depreciate quickly for the most part. you can get a lot more knife for the $ if you buy used in good condition than you can getting something new. just a thought!

I agree with wtlj - I am busy getting some money together to get one decent fixed blade. Only problem is the wide variety of choices. This definitely messes with the budget - LOL

I couldn't agree more with this statement! I've purchased about 200 knives since I got into knives last June and every one of them have been off the exchange.

I can highly recommend an Alox SAK. I'm really happy with my Farmer.
