So Many Knife Styles!

I just ordered a Rough Rider Big Daddy Ram's Head Barlow. I'll give that one a try!
I should have thought to mention the daddy size barlows. I have a white smooth bone RR, I think you'll like it. The GEC 97 is another great knife in that category.

Good luck with the Barlow.
Rough Rider is a good way to experiment as they're inexpensive.

As far as carrying a traditional, your comments about them sitting sideways in your jeans is something I can relate to. I hate that about some Traditionals. I discovered I won't carry a knife if it rides like that. With moderns it's easier since they all have clips, etc.

In addition to the safety pin method suggested, I like my Traditionals to have a lanyard hole. This allows one to carry a knife vertically.

Anyway, good luck with the Barlow.
Not sure about your budget, but I thought I'd mention some "modern Traditionals"
Collector Knives offers some very nice Italian made slipjoints in M390 steel.
I have the Bolus in rams horn

There is a big choice of patterns, not confusing it's alluring ;) If you still hanker after huge knives it suggests your Modern habit is still dominant....;) Myself I mainly go for Singles but I like a single-spring double ended knife the most, not too thick or heavy in the pocket, do like certain Stockman types though.

Why not a larger (by Trad standards) straight edge e.g. this GEC 93 Sheepfoot?
