So my truck just blew up...

And here I was moping because my car blew a headgasket.
Yeah, me too. Now I feel pretty lucky.

Despite the explanations provided, I still think it took a lot of guts to get your ammo out of the truck-a face full of popped off brass wouldn't have been much fun. I am also glad that you weren't hurt.

I had a 95 Dodge Neon - bought it new that year - it's sitting in the driveway in the middle of the night, and I happen to glance outside while on my way to the bathroom. The car lights are on... so I go outside in my pjs all ticked off because it's like 20 below and some kids must be playing pranks and turning on people's head lights -- once I got out there I realized the interior of the car was filled with smoke, the lights had come on because of some freak short or something. Turns out that there was a similar recall on that car - they just hadn't gotten to everyone yet - and the engine was on fire.

Had I not happened past that window at like 2 a.m., I could have lost more than just my car to the fire.

Dodge made good on the deal - I got a new replacement car. Traded it in 2 weeks after I got it.

They were talking about this on CNN radio news this afternoon while I driving around. Sorry to hear about the loss, at least you are safe.

Cheer up though the Shelby GT500 Mustang is coming soon.

They may have put another one out in the parking lot of the Safeway this morning. As I was driving by, I couldn't help but notice the fire trucks and police cars. They were just finishing up putting out a major car fire. Some sort of Ford sedan.

Of course, I don't know it was another one of these cruise control cut-off switch fires.

Dang, when I read the title of your post, I was thinking that your truck was parked somewhere in Iraq.:D.

It seems like a good thing that you weren't driving on the freeway at 65 mph when your truck decided that it was time to ignite!..

Ford, so far, has only issued recall notices for the '00 F150's.
