Help me pick it out guys, this wont be purchased soon as I am recovering from Christmas but I am starting the process now. These are the blades I have in mind so far, feel free to give me some more ideas also let me know what you think of my list.

Rodent 7 (with custom shop drop point)
Chopweiler
Sarge 7
NMSFNO
FSH
Fehrman First Strike
NO/E or SH/E

I know most of these are only secondary market finds.

So guys let me know which you would choose and why again feel free to give me some other ideas.

Well out of those I've owned a chopweiler and would highly recommend it. Felt great in the hand, cut wood like there was no tomorrow. I sold it a while back, but am going to pick up another. I miss it.

Good luck

Are you sure she isn't trying to tell you something without hurting your feelings? J/K of course. I would go with the sfno, but it's my personal grail knife. Do you know any place to handle these knives? They are all high quality, but the way a knife handles is highly subjective.

Chopweiler: I have one and love the balance and feel of the knife in hand.
Sarge 7: Handled one but not my favorite of the bunch.
NMSFNO: Again, only handled this one but is was awesome with smooth handles.
FSH, I've had a few, I really like the Heavy Ordinance variation
Fehrman First Strike, I've had mine since they first came out and its one of my favorite users. Not hot on the new clipped point.
NO/E or SH/E: I have both and cant say enough about these classics. Both are heavily used and have performed phenomenally.

Depends on what you want to do with it. 1111 should be readily had and at a good price. Might even send Scrapyard and email to see if they have any left. Otherwise for the prices you will be paying in the secondary market you might as well just grab a Battle Mistress direct from Busse. It looks like you are staying in the 7" blade length field but you did say big knife.

All you needed on that list was Chopweiler. Its my favorite knife period. It works on the small tasks and on the large ones as well. The handle has got to be the most comfortable handle i have had the pleasure of using. Its not the best chopper i own, but its the best all arounder i have ever used. Find one, get it, and keep it!!

Here it is blending in with the Drop Point R6 and Drop Point RMD

And here it is hanging with some bigger boys.

Rat Mastiff or Rat Daddy!

Or just wait for Ratweilers to appear again...

From your list:
Rodent 7 (with custom shop drop point) - probably would step up to R9 with drop point myself (if I could work with the handle)
Chopweiler - Can't go wrong with Choppy!
Sarge 7 - Something about SARs 4,6-8 just does not work for me... Maybe if the point was dropped some more, or even clipped...
NMSFNO - one day... a definite must have for me...
FSH - based on NMFSH I have, I'd say that FSH would make a fine choice
Fehrman First Strike - not sure... almost there but missing something...
NO/E or SH/E - I would not put NO/E in a large knife category... The E series is a hit with most and the knives look really nice.

I have a small issue with 'large' knives... after getting 13-11... When B10 arrived my friend was like 'Holly s..t! This is massive' and I just shrugged and put it in the borderline between medium and large...

What about a dogfather? Especially the LE flat grind or a coated LE... I present my "twins" for your consideration... You'll have to find your own though... .50cal bottle opener for comparison

I didn't list any of the Scarpyard knives because for me personally I just don't like Res-C, not that's is a bad material I just don't like it.

Btw WW thanks for the pics when I showed them to the wife she said "Yea get that one, I don't think even you could break that."

Looks like I will be in the market for a Choppy at some point this year.

I have a great love for the 7" class of knives, I have more of those than any other in the camp knife category. :)

If you can find one, the Chopwieler is a great choice, its the closest Rat I've found to a SHe. I have a side by side here:

Thus my attraction to it. :)

The Fehrman is an anomaly, one that doesnt fit the Bussekin world, worth a look and a try. Its the other close cousin to the SHe that I prefer. I was skeptical when I traded for it, but quickly converted me and those I loaned it to. But the new crop, I'm not so fond of. Get yourself a vintage one and your in for a treat.

The NOe is another anomaly, its not a small knife, and its not a big knife, but fills both quite well. Its scarcity is a testament to its popularity But its going to cost you just like the SHe. There is a reason they are so rare and expensive.

Your welcome :)

And your not breaking one of these unless your really trying to.

You probably can't go wrong with the Choppy. I don't at all like the new R Series handles (almost grateful for this as it saved me from buying on of each ;) ) ... but knowing a little about your taste Patrick ;) I would have suggested the NMSFNO...
