Well we are here at State and Gabe pinned his guy in the 1st period. We have 3 more matches till finals.

My 9-yr-old had her last basketball game of the season earlier tonight, it was great fun :)
 
If you're not a wrestling fan, you have no idea what kind of accomplishments this kid is achieving. He's doing this in Iowa, which is the wrestling mecca! There isn't any tougher competition anywhere!!!

Thanks guys. This is the 11 year payout for all his work, sweat and blood. His pin was highlighted on the news tonight.
 
Just saw this tread. Sending good luck your way. I lettered all 4 years in high school wrestling, got an idea how hard it is. Good luck to him.
 
Back from the arena. Gabe won 2-1. Close match. He will place no lower than 6th at this point. We go up against the #1 ranked kid in the state tonight at 6:00pm for the semi finals. God be with us!!!
 
To be totally honest I'm not a huge wrestling fan, but it's great fun following this thread :)

We are home. He lost his 3rd place match 3 to 2. He is a 4th place State Champion at #130. It has been a long and exhaustive road. Can't believe this is the last time I will see my son wrestle after 11 years in the sport. I am very proud of him. Could'nt make a Dad happier!! At least he can eat. He already weights 145#. He sacrificed so much for the sport he loved. Thank you for all your prayers and best wishes. My best friend waited to tell me he has terminal cancer until we got back from State wrestling. I was mad that he did not attend any of the sessions and now I feel like a selfish ass. Weird how one minute you are are on top of the world and the next you feel like all is lost. It was a kind thing he did for our family so my son wouldn't have to worry during State.
 
Nothing's lost, man. Your friend did that so you could enjoy your time with your family, as you said. This whole experience will nourish your soul for years to come. As a Daddy, I thank you for sharing this with us :) It does us good.
