So... that happened *Warning for those who are squeamish*

Thanks David. Thats exactly what I meant. I probably shouldn't have even said anything. I dont know Halfsquelch any more than I know some other guys here but he has always be a gentleman and probably better manners than I so sorry if anything was misconstrued. Apologies offered and forgotten.

My intention is not to be the jerk here either. It is hard to relay tone through text.
The truth of the matter is my original post was basically a big "eye roll".
I guess I'm just a bit of a skeptic when someone can post a pic of their self inflicted wound (pre sutures) yet not one pic of the bear they killed in ninja like fashion. (2 swift blows)

I've been hanging in the back yard whacking a few branches every evening all week waiting for a bear to come along. Not a one but I did have 4 deer walk up and look at me funny, 3 were bucks too. I thought that was weird for this time of year.
Not being brave though I did have the 416 Rigby close at hand. Some of our bears get up to 150 pounds around here.

My hats still off to halfsquelch weather he wants to be famous or not. He done damn good and I'm glad he's alive and not badly maimed to tell the tale.

416 Rigby... Looking forward to running into any Cape buffalo or rhinos on your property?

I have a Ruger #1 in 458 Winchester magnum but I think the 416 packs even a bigger punch.

I had a Ruger 77 in 458, it was a hell of a nice gun, didn't kill me shooting it neither. I suspect your # 1 bucks a bit.

Always liked the 416 for some reason no idea why. In my youth I always had visions of getting to Alaska as a permanent resident, then I found I wasn't all that fond of cold and now in the chair I don't think we're compatible.

I switched my aim to Australia some years back but then they went totally anti gun stupid down there so guess Ill stay where I'm at or there abouts.

I live in Alaska because I requested this base and it is one of the easiest places to disappear from society when I am not at work. I live in Anchorage because I live 8 minutes from work. I was planning on never posting this but I decided to post it here more or less as a thank you to HI and a story to the rest of the HI community as it is something they would likely want to hear. The incident in question happened on August 30th and I didn't post it till September 10th, if I really wanted fame it would have been posted same day and I would have called the local new stations up here. I am a misanthropist and one of my goals on this planet is that when I die no one will miss me or even know I have left.

You blew it pal. When you die I'm gonna miss ya something fierce. But I like your theory.

Yeah squelch, I think you done blew it by coming to this forum. Some people are gonna remember you now for sure!

'tis exactly that and I thank you FOR posting it. The sort of thing many of us here do enjoy hearing about because 1) we are kind of like an extended but VERY loosely connected family, more so that any other forum I have ever been associated with and 2) We all are very interested in the uses and abuses these HI Khuks, we are all so very fond of, prove capable of.
Knowing the fact that an HI Khuk has been able to perform this task as well as they perform all the daily tasks we put them to is just another interesting piece of knowledge for those of us who love these blades. Also this is why I think the guys that mentioned showing this to the kamis suggested that. I think they would also be interested to know how the blade was used.

I personally have a tendancy to trust folks on this subforum pretty far. In general the "regulars" here actually seem to have a tendancy more towards self depreciation that self agrandizement. In fact most folks who are regulars on this subforum tend to be the type who value the honor of their word and don't spend that coin foolishly.

But....they would have had Chuck Norris play you in the movie?! It sounds like that M43 should be framed and mounted over a fireplace for posterity, along with a copy of the police/ranger report.

That scar is badge of honor worthy of free drinks at the pub of your choice for a lifetime.

Get well soon.

That movie would last all of about 8 seconds lol... well maybe 2 seconds if Chuck Norris was playing in it.

Anyway enough of this fame crap, I posted this up here so people would have another of many stories of what an M43 or an HI blade in general can do. BTW Yangdu, if you would not mind passing on my thanks to Lachhu (assuming he is the one who made my M43) for crafting such a great blade that was able to save my life when it counted.

Ok I'm semi retired from making movies but if it's only gonna be an 8 second movie I'll play ya. Ya know hollywod always has guys better looking than the real people and of course such will be the case here as well.

I love Chuck Norris but he's also like Rambo, his best acting is when he don't talk.

Will this be a speaking part? Did you shout any X rated words or anything, be nice to keep it PG if we can.

And so there's no confusion I think we all thank you for sharing your story. As several mentioned it confirms what we think these blades are capable of, at least in your hands. Don't mean I could do the same, most likely cure me and have me running 0 - 100 is 2 seconds.

And it's also incredibly good fortune that you happened to have this particular "REAL" knife in hand when this happened.

Thanks again,
I gotta go call my agent.

So Halfsquelch slides off into the frozen tundra with his M43;) Hopefully theres not a chapter 2. Sorry Bawanna! Maybe see pugs for chapter 2! "When beavers attack":D

It's a #1 tropical so it's a heavy barrel, probably weighs 9-10 pounds empty.

It doesn't kick too bad loaded with 300gr bullets but loaded hot will 500s... Ouch
