The BM site still does not say it is discontinued. So maybe it is just a rumor. They usually post it on their site when they dis'c a knife. Or maybe they are just scared.:D

You still can buy Benchmade models with M2 blade from European webshops, but they are much more expensive than American ones.

Jeepers, this is a rather annoying development.

The Benchmade 710 (and 800) series is a "classic."

And for some reason (could be paranoia), I have the feeling that there are not any worthy replacements for the 710 and 800 series knives in the future lineup.

As far as business goes, killing off well regarded products (though slow selling) and/or offering "cheaper" versions I've observed to often kill a company in the long run.

Well, lets see Benchmade's next moves. And in five years see if they are still independent or a "brand" of Boker or something.

But there is one potential bright spot IMHO. If that limited edition 910 model is an indicator, it looks like we may have a framelock 910 to play with.

Still, bad vibes.

The whole 710 line is being discontinued? Serious bummer. I always thought the 710 was one of the best production knives offered.

I think BM is just upgrading. No nononsense knives just good in where they for: cutting. But for a better bigger price show-offs. I think because of the price of the Rukus. $250,-- thats near hi-end, for a worker/utility look bit fancied up, is it a $70 difference with the 710 worth?

I think my 690 is fancy enough!!

You see the same thing in the watch marked. Bought a Zenith (made in Switserland) 5 years ago, now they are much much more expensive, throug upgrading. Same watch more or less, double price.

The 710 is to continue with D2.
There seem to be some types that go way out of their way to complain about Benchmade's grapes being sour.
Guess they save money by not actually buying some great knives.

O man,
I am sad.
Entire line gone.:thumbdn:

Where did anyone see in print from BM that they were going to continue one in D2?

Do i stop using mine an retire them now, farg the confusion begins.

moteng lists the 710 in D2, along with other changes to BM models

Well, at least D2 will be better than 154CM.

Not completely sold on S30V yet (yah, yah, everybody loves it ...).

I was thinking they might be cancelling all the full liner axis knives. It would simplify production if all axis knives used a common lock module.
