So Today I Turn 39 - Time to Give a Knife or 3 Away

Congrats from me too, defaultuser.
And again thanks for the great contest JHB.

Congrats to Defaultuser, BTW: Do you feel any older today?
Just wait until you hit the 60 mark. A friend of mine, (now deceased) once told me after 60 it is all downhill. :D

Congratulations with your birthday JHB, and default with your knife!

I never expected to see Belgian beers discussed on this forum and certainly not to see a picture of a 12° Malheur taken in over in Gatineau, Canada...
:thumbup::thumbup:

Belgian beers, i absolutely love them. Being Belgian myself does of course help i must admit, it grants me easy access to them :D

Thanks, all for the b-day wishes. The community spirit is one of the things I really enjoy about being a part of this forum over the years.

The four years of living in Northern VA/DC learned to appreciate Belgian beers, while I have a good place near the office at home I've had to settle for a substitute (it is good stuff) but in Ommegang Three Philosophers - served it up last night while entertaining some friends good time (yes, still celebrating through the weekend) but miss having bottles of Delirium Nocturne around.

Anyway, The knives and a small token from a little brew manufacturer are on their way to the great white north this morning. (work got in the way on Friday - hate when that happens).

Very nice selection you have there default... And nice knife...

Actually De Regenboog (Eng. The Rainbow), one of the smallest breweries in Belgium, which brews 't Smisje Dubbel, is only about 1,5 miles from where i live :D

And did you know that around christmas, in a small region of the French speaking part of Belgium, they drink their dark brown beer while regularly heating it by putting a heated iron rod in their glass. The sudden heat caramelizes the sugars and thus sweetens the beer. Ultradelice is a relatively recently developed beer that is used in that traditional way.

Enjoy your beers!

Fellas, I hate to interfere with a subject I enjoy (beer), but could we please take the beer and off topic discussion to email or PM? Thanks in advance. I appreciate it.

To make up for it and to get back to the forum topic, i'll show you my my favourite slipjoint bottle opener ;)

Sorry Blues; thanks you for reminding me to stay on topic :)

zeppos: email sent :D Nice bottle opener

Received the knives today...Holy cow: 5 days!!! You didn't have to send them ultra-extra-super-duper-expedited but thanks!!!

The knives are in very good condition; two are dead mint and the Schrade is screaming "Use me! Use me!" :D

And thanks for the bottle opener; I *think* it will be extensively used...:o

Just to stay in the "party" theme, here's some shots I snapped tonight (not a Belgian beer but the style is close enough):

Thanks a lot for the knives. I have a 10yo nephew who started to ask about knives last summer when the extended family met for a camping; I think the Camillus will be a nice gift for the boy :-)

All the best!
