Would you be willing to pay 100$ more for the aluminum Espada xl over the g10 version? I am really going back and forth on this one.

Eh, while i like to carry bulky blades, That's a bit too big for me. I wouldn't pay $100 more for aluminum either. I like the looks of the full g10 version more. But it's still too big. Maybe a medium one would better fit my needs.

AS for you, I would choose the reg. g10.

I wouldn't pay $100 for that knife period, I might even go so far as to say I wouldn't pay over $100 for any of cold steels offerings, so you probably don't want to give my opinion too much weight. If that's the knife you want, and you think the aluminum will make it $100 better then go for it.

Edit: In the future just as a helpful hint, if you make the titles of your threads a little bit more descriptive so as to give people an idea as to what the thread is about, you will very likely get BETTER answers.

Nah, I wouldn't. I bought one of the G-10 ones for the hell of it just because it was (relatively) cheap. I ended up selling it, though, because it really wasn't anything I was ever going to use/carry. So unless you really think you're going to use it a lot and that the aluminum version would be significantly more functional for some reason, I don't see any reason not to get the $100 cheaper G-10 version given that it'll be little more than a novelty.

The Aluminium would be cooler to have around the house, but for carry the g10 would be thinner, lighter and grippier I assume. The higher end version has the polished blade too, and I think that's a pretty nice upgrade. I'd say it is worth $100 more, just depending on what you want..

Then get out of the thread.

No need to be hostile or upset here, I was just sharing my opinion. If I had known this thread was about a gigantic espada (a descriptive title would have been helpful) I wouldn't have come in the first place.

BUT, I also feel that you took what I said wrongly, I wasn't trying to bash cold steel, I think some of their less expensive knives are good knives, ex: american lawman
But if I'm paying higher prices I expect higher quality materials (much like your question is asking about) I just want those materials in the blade steel instead of in the handle.

Calm down buddy

No problem man I'm not even mad it's just that most people who make comments like that are just haters with nothing constructive too add or even something funny.

um, when I can have an aluminum espada, which is pretty much a prebroken fixed blade, or a junglas and a recon 1 or ZT 0200, I really am not thinking about it. the G10 version is slightly better as far as price goes, but I would still rather have a junglas. that is just my opinion.

If I had the money I would. I have the large g10 version, and it is one heck of a knife! Only reason I say aluminum version is just because it is prettier and has a nice satin finish. Bead blast and aus8 dont mix well. Is that worth 100 dollars to you?

I disagree. As long as it's a legit opinion, then it's important for potential buyers to see that some people are not a fan of a companies products, for whatever reason. Negative feedback is just as important as positive and neutral.

just an idea, I would buy the large g-10 and with the extra money have it duracoated or something snazzy

make it more unique

So it's important to potential buyers that a person that has no interest in a knife, hasn't owned it and doesn't plan on owning it to just be negative about said company who makes the knife?

Had the original Rajah 1 and currently own a spartan. The aluminum shows wear so unbelievably well I wont buy another until they get in the game with some Ti bolster. Any of their G-10 or Grivory handles are great. Spartan is Grivory and its darn near indestructible. Go with the G-10 and buy yourself a ZT-0350 with the money saved and get 2 great knives.

and everyone should stop debating thread politics and just keep to the OP's topic. Its annoying for those of us who have an answer to have to read through the finger-pointing blame game just to make sure we're not repeating another persons opinion.

I'd get the G10 version and then pay Andrew Demko to make me a custom high hollow ground bowie something like the Jeff Imada style.

+1. When I ask about a product on a forum, I'm always happy to hear of better alternatives or downsides, that's... kinda the whole point of asking on a forum. It's ridiculous to say "tell me this is a great product or get out of my thread," other forumites will do whatever they want. Let me put it this way: if you were just getting into the hobby and thought that Smith and Wesson knives from Big 5 were the best thing out there, wouldn't you want to be advised better?
